32Installation instructionsImportant – safety requirements• Natural Gas versions of this appliance areavailable.• Check that this model is suitable for the typeof supply available. This appliance must beinstalled and/or serviced by a competentperson in accordance with the Gas Safety(Installation and Use) Regulations CurrentEditions and the I.E.E. Wiring Regulations.• Detailed recommendations are contained inthe following British Standard Codes ofPractice – BS.6172, BS.5440: Part 2 andB.S.6891. All British Standards must be‘Current Editions’.This appliance must be installed by aqualified electrician / competent person(CORGI Registered). Safety may be impairedif installation is not carried out inaccordance with these instructions.Before connecting the appliance make surethat the voltage of your electricity supply isthe same as that indicated on the ratingplate. This is situated on the front frame ofthe appliance and can be seen upon openingthe door. Alternatively the rating plate mayalso be found on the back or top of somemodels (where applicable).Do not alter the electrical circuitry of thisappliance.Provision for ventilation• This appliance is not connected to acombustion products evacuation device. Itshall be installed and connected inaccordance with the current installationregulations. Particular attention shall begiven to the relevant requirements regardingventilation.• The room containing the appliance shouldhave an air supply in accordance withBS.5440: Part 2 Current Edition. All roomsrequire an openable window or equivalentand some rooms will require a permanentvent as well. For room volumes up to 5m 3 anair vent of 100cm 2 is required: for roomvolumes between 5m 3 and 10m 3 an air ventof 50cm 2 is required. If the room has a doorthat opens directly to the outside, no air ventis required. For room volumes that exceed11m 3 no air vent is required. If there areother fuel burning appliances in the sameroom, BS.5440: Part 2 Current Editionshould be consulted to determine therequisite air vent requirements.• Prolonged intensive use of the appliancemay call for additional ventilation, forexample opening a window, or moreeffective ventilation, for example increasingthe level of mechanical ventilation wherepresent.
