For this reason it is recommended thatthe outer casing of this appliance is only cleaned withwarm water with a little washing-up liquid added.After cleaning, reconnect the equipment to the mainssupply.Defrosting of the refrigeratorFrost is automatically eliminated from the evaporator ofthe refrigerator compartment every time the motor com-pressor stops, during normal use. The defrost waterdrains out through a trough into a special container atthe back of the appliance, over the motor compressor,where it evaporates.It is important to periodically clean the defrost waterdrain hole in the middle of the refrigerator compartmentchannel to prevent the water overflowing and drippingonto the food inside. Use the special cleaner provided,which you will find already inserted into the drain hole.Defrosting the freezerA certain amount of frost will always form on the freezershelves and around the top compartment.Defrost the freezer when the frost layer reaches a thick-ness of about 3-5 mm.Important! About 12 hours prior to defrosting, set theTemperature regulator toward higher settings , in orderto build up sufficient chill reserve for the interruption inoperation.To remove the frost, follow the instructions below:1. Switch off the appliance.2. Remove any stored food, wrap it in several layersof newspaper and put it in a cool place.Caution! Do not touch frozen goods with wethands. Hands can freeze to the goods.3. Leave the dooropen and insertthe plastic scra-per in the appro-priate seating atthe bottom cen-tre, placing a ba-sin underneathto collect the de-frost waterIn order to speed up the defrosting process, placea pot of warm water in the freezer compartment.In addition, remove pieces of ice that break away be-fore defrosting is complete.4. When defrosting is completed, dry the interiorthoroughly and keep the scraper for future use.5. Switch on the appliance.6. After two or three hours, reload the previously re-moved food into the compartment.Warning! Never use sharp metal tools to scrapeoff frost from the evaporator as you could damageit.Do not use a mechanical device or any artificial meansto speed up the thawing process other than thoserecommended by the manufacturer.A temperature rise of the frozen food packs, duringdefrosting, may shorten their safe storage life.Periods of non-operationWhen the appliance is not in use for long periods, takethe following precautions:• disconnect the appliance from electricity supply• remove all food• defrost (if foreseen) and clean the appliance and allaccessories• leave the door/doors ajar to prevent unpleasantsmells.If the cabinet will be kept on, ask somebody to check itonce in a while to prevent the food inside from spoilingin case of a power failure.What to do if…During operation of the appliance some smaller but an-noying trouble can often occur, which does not require20
