INSTRUCTION SUPPLEMENT FOR1998-LATER YAMAHAYZ/WR400/426/450FRemoving stock carburetor and cables1. Remove seat and gas tank. Makesure fuel petcock is in “off”position.2. Remove throttle cables payingclose attention to routing, as thenew cables will need too be routedthe same.3. Remove stock carburetor and stockthrottle cables.4. Unplug TPS (throttle positionsensor) and tape end off comingfrom bike.5. Remove hot start button and hose(for externally mounted hot startsonly).6. Stuff a dry, clean rag into theintake manifold to keep debris fromentering engine.NOTE: It may be easier to remove sub-frame prior to installation.Installing the Edelbrock Carburetor andThrottle Cables1. Install the provided throttle cables intoOEM throttle housing and place backonto clean handle bar.2. Remove the rubber carburetoralignment tabs from the manifold usinga razor blade or sharp cutters. Thisshould be done with the rag left in themanifold. Be very careful not todamage the manifold or your handswhile doing this!!3. Remove the hex pipe plug from thecarb cap using a 11mm or 7/16 wrench.Do not discard plug, as it will beneeded later. Install the meteringadjustment tool included in thehardware kit. Do not over-tighten asdamage may occur to cap.4. Install provided fuel line onto fuel inletbanjo and secure with pinch clamp.5. Place Edelbrock carburetor intomanifold. Do not tighten clamp yet.6. Remove the cable bracket end fromcable bracket using #2 phillips.7. Install pull cable (see Figure 1) end intothe 8:00 position of the cable wheeland the return cable into the 11:00position. Secure cables into cablebracket by replacing end piece andphillips screw. See figure 2.Figure 1.Figure 2.SPECIAL NOTE: The EdelbrockCarburetor was designed to be usedwithout TPS (throttle position sensor).We recommend the plug be taped off tokeep debris and water from entering.With the TPS disconnected there is nodamage that can occur to ignitionsystem.8. Place provided vinyl cap over brassbarb on cylinder and secure with smalltie-wrap. See figure 3.Figure 3.9. Insert aluminum plug into airboot wherehot start button was located. Seefigure 4.
