It includes a list of componenthardware, software, and fonts, and discusses the key elements ofsoftware operation.Components of the Printer ControllerThe Printer Controller enables you to use proprietary Xerox IPShardware, firmware, and software to control the printer. It has thefollowing major hardware components:• Sun UltraSPARC workstation. The Sun workstation has ahigh-performance RISC processor chipset, based on theindustry-standard Scalable Processor Architecture (SPARC)and a high-capacity hard disk drive. It contains the followingcomponents:— Processor– Hard disk– Diskette drive– CD-ROM drive– Connectivity boards for Ethernet and, optionally, TokenRing— Monitor— Keyboard— Mouse• Host Channel Unit (HCU) (Channel-attached systems only).The HCU contains the channel communications board. This isused only when printing data received over a channel via a busand tag connection.Note: Some elements and components of the Printer Controller areaccessible only by a service representative; for example, thediagnostics for the Sun workstation processor.Note: Printer controller hardware configurations are subject toupgrade.
