Operator’s Manual DC1048 Integrated Audio Management Page 35Connection directly to the RS485 NetworkIf a connection to the first unit cannot be easily achieved with a USB cable (dueto location of this unit) then a longer RS485 connection is possible via the rearpanel connection using a suitable RS485 converter. We recommend the KKSystems USB-485 adapter for simple conversion to RS485.This device is powered via the USB connection and so has the ability to drive longcable runs reliably. This device is available from us, or directly from KK Systemsat www.kk-systems.com. The converter comes with a 9-pin D-type fitted asstandard – this has to be adapted to an XLR connection.To prevent voiding the warranty on the converter, we advise not cutting the 9-pinoff, but rather make up an adapter – the pin out for this is below.9-pin D type XLR PhoenixPin 4 1 1Pins 3+7(Brown + Orange)2 2Pins 8+2(Black + Yellow)3 3Remember to set the first unit to SLAVE mode instead of MASTER so itaccepts data on the rear Phoenix instead of the USB. Also, the baud ratesetting in iCore now must match that of all connected units.See page 16 for how to change this.
