Install batteries or plug in AC adapter.Reset the instrument. See Setting Mode.Measurement error orresults appearinaccurate.Material being measured isdamaged (e.g. scratched)Obtain new material.Instrument requirescalibration.Refer to Calibration mode for procedure.Calibration procedurefails.Calibration reference is dirtyor damaged.Clean the reference per procedure inAppendix, or replace if damaged.Instrument andsoftware notcommunicating (USBconnection).Interface cable not connected. Connect the interface cable between thecomputer and the instrument.Close and restart the software application.If this does not work, reboot thecomputer.Reset the instrument. Put the instrument intotargeting mode and place the instrumenton a flat surface and then lift.
