VAI 6 WN-I_EN - 06/14 - Vaillant 17MAINTENANCE12 Preparation For Use12.1 Checking for leaksFig. 12.1 Checking for leaks in the installation.Legend1 Suction valve (gas)2 Return valve (liquid)3 Service manifold4 Non-return valve5 Oxygen free Nitrogen cylinder6 Gauge lines• Connect a service manifold set to the service port on thegas line stop valve of the outdoor unit.• Connect a oxygen free nitrogen cylinder to the charginghose of the refrigerant gauges.• Carefully open the valves on the service manifold to allowthe oxygen free nitrogen to enter the installation. Set itto 40 bars pressure for 10/20 minutes. Do not open theservice valve on the outdoor unit as this will release theprecharged refrigerant from the outdoor unit.• Check that all the connections and joints are gastight. Ifany leaks are found, repair and start the process againfrom the beginning.• On satisfactory completion of the test, close all the valveson the combined meter and remove the oxygen freenitrogen cylinder.• Release the pressure from the system by slowly openingthe valves on the service manifold.• Do not continue to the next step until the pressure testhas been successfully completed.According to Regulation 842/2006/EC, the completerefrigerant circuit must be periodically checked forleakage. Take the necessary actions to ensure these testsare performed and the results correctly logged into themaintenance record of the machine. The leakage test mustbe done with the following frequency:• Systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant => periodicleakage test not needed• Systems with 3 kg or more of refrigerant => at least onceevery 12 months• Systems with 30 kg or more of refrigerant => at least onceevery 6 months• Systems with 300 kg or more of refrigerant => at leastonce every 3 months12.2 Evacuating the installationFig. 12.2 Evacuating the installationLegend1 Suction valve (gas)2 Return valve (liquid)3 Service manifold4 Non-return joint5 Vacuum pump suitable for refrigeration systems6 Gauge lines• Connect a service manifold to the threeway valve on thegas line of the outdoor unit.• Connect a vacuum pump to the charging connection ofthe service manifold.• Ensure that the the service manifold valves are closed.• Turn the vacuum pump on and open the service manifoldshut off valve to open the system to the vacuum pump.• Ensure that all other valves are closed.• Leave the vacuum pump functioning for approximately 15minutes (depending on the size of the installation) to carryout the vacuum.• Check the needle on the low pressure manometer: itshould indicate 0.1 MPa (76 cmHg >3 Torr). If theservice manifold gauge is not capable of measuring tothese pressures a separate Torr gauge should be fitted inline to measure this pressure.1 234561 23456EN
