12 VAI 6 WN-I_EN - 06/14 - VaillantINSTALLATION9.3.5 Correct installation of indoor unit refrigerantpipe workIf installing the rear exiting piping:• Place a seal ring for the hole in the piping and insert thecoolant pipes with the condensed water pipe through thehole.• Remember to seal the hole inside and out properly afterinstalling the pipes.• Carefully bend the installation pipe in the right direction, taking care not to overbend or kink the pipe.bWARNING!Danger of breakdowns or malfunction.• Danger of damage to the coolant pipes.Bend the pipe carefully to prevent kinking orbreaks.• There should be sufficient pipe tails on the indoor unit togo through the wall width. If this is not the case connectfurther lengths of pipe as required. Carefully feed thepipe tails through the holes together with the condensatepipework and interconnecting electrical cable.• Hang the indoor unit on the top edge of the mountingplate.• Tilt the lower part of the indoor unit forwards and insert anauxiliary tool (e.g. a piece of wood) between the mountingplate and the unit (see Figure 9.9) to allow access to theunit connections.Fig. 9.9 Assembling the indoor unit.• Connect the coolant pipes from the outdoor unit and thecondensed water hose to the installation drain.• Insulate the coolant piping and joints correctly andseparately. To do so, cover any possible cuts withmasking tape or insulate any bare coolant piping with thecorresponding insulation material suitable for Air to Airheat pumps installations (for connection of the electricalwiring see section 11).Fig. 9.10 Section showing pipework run behind indoor unit.Legend1 Coolant pipe2 Piping support plate3 Indoor/outdoor electric cable4 Drain pipe5 Heat-resistant material• For pipework exiting from the right hand side and bottomof the unit extend the pipework through the relevant knockout before hanging unit (see section 9.3.6).• For pipework exiting from the left of the unit, make theconnections at the rear of the unit first before hanging theunit (see section 9.3.6).i NOTE!The flare connections should be, where possible, accessible to allow leak test and future access.9.3.6 Installation of the indoor unit body• Check that the installation has been carried out correctlyand that there are no leaks (see section 12.1).• Securely hang the indoor unit body onto the uppernotches of the mounting plate. Briefly move the body fromside to side to verify that it is secure.• Lift the body up slightly from underneath, press it onto themounting plate and then lower it vertically. The body will fitinto the lower supports on the mounting plate.• Check that the indoor unit is properly secured.• In the event that the body does not slot into the supportsproperly, repeat this process.• Do not use excessive force as this may damage the fixinglugs, ensure that the pipework is not trapped behind theunit.12345
