19Pre-ride InspectionYou should perform a pre-ride inspection each timeyou ride to ensure all parts are in full working order.Mentally check off each of the following beforeriding the 2×2:� Lights – Ensure the headlights, rear light,brake light and directional indicators areworking.� Power pack – Ensure there is enoughcharge to carry out your work or journey.Ensure the power pack strap is securedtightly.� Tyres – Check the condition and pressureof the tyres. Tyres are interchangeable andcan be swapped out if required (details inSection 06: Maintenance & Care).� Brakes – Check they are operational andcheck the brake pad wear.� Mirrors – Check they are adjusted forproper viewing and are not obstructed byany load you may be carrying.� Horn – Check it sounds.� Loose nuts, bolts, or fixings – Ensure allare done up correctly and are secure.General RidingDo not ‘wheely’ or jump the 2×2. This can damagethe hub motors, causing gear shock when themotor accelerates rapidly in the air and thendecelerates instantly when it hits the ground again.The 2018 UBCO 2×2 is not designed to be aMotocross (MX) bike. Rather, it has been designedto be lighter and more functional. Using the 2×2like an MX bike may damage the drive system andwill likely void the warranty.If you are unsure about the type of riding you aredoing, please check with your service provider orthe team at UBCO and we can advise you.Riding in the WetThe power pack, motors, and electricalcomponents are protected against mud, heavyrain, surface water, and shallow water crossings.They are not protected against submersion and the2×2 should not ford water deeper than the wheelaxles.When riding on the road in wet weather, be sure todrive to the conditions.Directional indicators, reflectors, rear light, number plate holder and mirrors on the road version only.
