In spiteof this technology, the unit may make sounds that areunfamiliar.Normal operating sounds may be more noticeablebecause of the unit’s environment. Hard surfaces such ascabinets, wood/vinyl/tiled floors and paneled walls have atendency to reflect normal appliance operating noises.Common refrigeration components, and a briefdescription of the normal operating sounds they make,are listed below.Note: Your unit may not contain all the componentslisted.• Compressor: The compressor makes a hum or pulsingsound that may be heard when it operates.• Evaporator: Refrigerant flowing through anevaporator may sound like boiling liquid.• Condenser Fan: Air moving through a condenser maybe heard.• Automatic Defrost/Drain Pan: Water may be hearddripping or running into the drain pan when the unit isin the defrost cycle.• Automatic Ice Maker: Ice can be heard as it drops fromthe mold into the ice bin/tray.• Water Valve: The water valve will make an occasionalbuzzing sound and running water will be heard.Some U-line models are designed to operate in outdoorenvironments. For best performance, keep the unit out ofdirect sunlight.If the unit will be shut off for five days or more, prop thedoor open to allow for air circulation and prevent moldand mildew.IMPORTANTIMPORTANTIt is strongly recommended that the unit NOT beleft outside during the cold winter months. If thetemperature will be below freezing, follow thestorage instructions and move the unit indoorsduring this period.IMPORTANTIMPORTANTIf the ambient temperature is expected to dropbelow 45°F, turn off and unplug the unit, and drainall water from the unit to prevent freezing damagenot covered by the warranty.High ambient temperatures (110°F or higher) may reducethe unit’s ability to reach low temperatures.If the unit will not be used for an extended period, orotherwise stored, follow these steps completely:DANGERElectrical Shock Hazard. Disconnect power beforeservicing. Before operating, replace all panels.Failure to do so may result in death or electricalshock.1. Remove all consumable contents from the unit.2. Disconnect power to the unit.3. Shut off water supply to the unit at main water source.WARNINGIf the ambient temperature is expected to dropbelow 45°F, turn off and unplug the unit, anddrain all water from the unit to prevent freezingdamage not covered by the warranty.The use of anti-freeze or other products of thisnature is not necessary and is not recommended.4.
