Release pressure from the coilthrough valves in protective caps before remov-ing caps.Do not leave piping open to the atmosphere un-necessarily. Water and water vapor are detri-mental to the refrigerant system. Until the pipingis complete, recap the system and charge withnitrogen at the end of each workday. Clean allpiping connections before soldering joints.Failure to follow these procedures could result inpersonal injury or equipment damage.Refrigerant PipingRefrigerant coils have liquid and suctionline connections through the front of thecabinet. CAUTION: Use proper care whenbrazing including use of heat sink (wetcloth or other method) to prevent damageto liquid line and suction line components(see Figure 4b)Size and install refrigerant lines in accord-ance with the condensing unit manufactur-er’s instructions. Provide insulation on thesuction line, to prevent condensation. Pro-vide insulation on the liquid line if unit to beused for heat pump service or if otherwiserequired.System Design RegulationWhen connecting MMD units in the VRFsystem (mix or all), keep indoor/outdoorunit capacity ratio with the range of50% to 135%. For other conditions, referto the VRF System standard piping designregulations.Fig. 4b — Connection of RefrigerantPiping—Brazing DetailsApply brazing tofull circumferenceWrap AHU-sidepiping with wet clothbefore brazing.Connecting pipe size is shown in the following table.NOTE: Be sure to use the reducer pipe (shippedloose with the air handler) so as to match the con-necting pipe size for unit sizes 012 and 018.
