28Using the TV’sFeaturesAdjusting the soundMuting the soundPress MUTE to temporarily turn off the sound. While the sound is off,the screen displays the word “MUTE” in the lower right corner. Torestore the sound, press MUTE or VOL x •.When you press MUTE, the Closed Caption feature is automaticallyactivated. To deactivate captions and restore normal sound, pressMUTE again. This feature works only when the Closed Caption modeis set to OFF. For more information about closed caption settings, see“Using the closed captioned feature” on page 27.Selecting stereo/SAP broadcastsThe multi-channel TV sound (MTS) feature provides high-fidelitystereo sound. MTS also can transmit a second audio program (SAP)containing a second language or other audio information.Note: The MTS feature is not available in VIDEO mode.When the TV receives a stereo or SAP broadcast, the word “STEREO”or “SAP” displays on-screen every time you turn the TV on, changethe channel, or press RECALL.To listen to stereo sound:1. Press MENU.2. Press x or • to highlight the AUDIO menu.3. Press y or z to highlight MTS.4.
