Charging the BatteryWARNINGCharging the battery produces gasses thatcan explode.Never smoke near the battery and keep sparksand flames away from battery.Important: Always keep the battery fully charged(1.265 specific gravity) to prevent battery damagewhen the temperature is below 0°C (32°F).1. Remove the battery from the chassis; refer toRemoving the Battery (page 36).2. Check the electrolyte level.3. Ensure that the filler caps are installed on thebattery.4. Charge the battery for 1 hour at 25 to 30 A or 6hours at 4 to 6 A.5. When the battery is fully charged, unplug thecharger from the electrical outlet, and disconnectthe charger leads from the battery posts (Figure48).6. Install the battery onto the machine and connectthe battery cables; refer to Installing the Battery(page 37).Note: Do not run the machine with the batterydisconnected; electrical damage may occur.g000538Figure 481. If a fuse blows, check thecomponent or circuit for a malfunction or short.1. Release the cushion from the rear of themachine.2. Pull out the fuse to remove or replace it (Figure49).3.
