Note: Use a straight edge to align all three surfaces.Figure 581. Align the three pump drivepulley surfaces shown withthis pattern within 0.8 to1.6 mm (1/32 inch to 1/16inch).2. Align the three PTO drivepulley surfaces shown withthis pattern within 0.8 to1.6 mm (1/32 inch to 1/16inch).9. Tighten the four engine mounting bolts and fourjackshaft mounting bolts. Check the alignment aftertightening.10. Install the pump belt tension spring.11. Swing the fuel tank in and install tank mounting nuts.12. Align the pump drive pulley; Aligning the Pump DrivePulley (page 46).Aligning the Pump Drive PulleyThe pump drive pulley alignment is necessary for any of thefollowing conditions:• The engine mounting bolts have been loosened or theengine has been moved or replaced.• The pump pulleys have been loosened, moved, orreplaced.• The PTO pulley alignment has been performed; refer toAligning the PTO Drive Pulley (page 45).1. Stop the machine and move the speed-control lever tothe neutral position.2. Disengage the PTO, engage the parking brake, stop theengine, and wait for all moving parts to stop.3. Loosen the set screws on both pump pulleys.4. Using a straight edge, align each pump pulley with theengine pulley by sliding it along the pump shaft (Figure58).5. Tighten the pulley set screws and check the alignment.Adjusting the PTO BrakeSpringThe PTO brake spring adjustment is only necessary if theblower has been removed or replaced or if the PTO driveidler arm has been disassembled.1. Stop the machine and move the speed-control lever tothe neutral position.2. Disengage the PTO, engage the parking brake, stop theengine, and wait for all moving parts to stop.3. Locate the brake spring and thread the two jam nutsout to the end of the brake spring rod (Figure 59).4. Tighten the jam nuts together at end of the brake-springrod.Figure 591. Tighten the jam nuts here2. PTO Brake spring assemblyAdjusting the Hopper Door1. Stop the machine and move the speed-control lever tothe neutral position.2. Disengage the PTO, engage the parking brake, stop theengine, and wait for all moving parts to stop.3. Loosen the six door hinge nuts (Figure 60).4. Open the door and place a 3/8 inch rubber strip or3/8 inch diameter hose between the hopper and thehopper door (Figure 60).5. Close the door and push it tight against the hopper.6. Tighten the hinge hardware. Open the hopper doorand remove the rubber strip.46
