Installing the Blade1. Install the blade, the blade retainer, the curvedwasher (cupped side toward blade), and theblade bolt (Figure 36).Important: The curved part of the blademust be pointing upward toward the insideof the mower to ensure proper cutting.2. Tighten the blade bolt to 45 to 60 ft-lb (61 to81 N·m).Removing the Mower1. Park the tractor on a level surface.2. Disengage the blade (PTO).3. Shift the ground speed lever into Neutral.4. Set the parking brake.5. Stop the engine and wait for all moving partsto stop.6. Remove the ignition key.7. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug.8. Move the height-of-cut lever into the "D"notch.9. Remove the height-of-cut lift assist springfrom the retaining bolt (Figure 39), using thespring tool provided with the tractor.Figure 391. Spring 3. BoltNote: The spring is between the frame andthe right rear wheel.When you remove the mower, thespring-tensioned height-of-cut levercould suddenly release and injure you orsomeone else.Move the height-of-cut lever to the "D"position and remove the height-of-cutassistspringtoreleasethespringtension.10. Move the height-of-cut lever into the "A"notch.11. Remove the hairpin cotter and washer fromthe blade control arm on the left side of themower (Figure 40).Figure 401. Hairpin cotter and washer 2. Rod12. Slide the rod off the arm.13. Remove the bolts and locknuts.14. Pull the 2 mower pivot mount brackets downfrom the front axle (Figure 41).Figure 411. Pivot mount brackets32
