Removing the Battery1. Park the machine on a level surface, engagethe parking brake (if applicable), and lower thegrinder.2. Shut off the engine and remove the key.3. Slide the red terminal boot off the positive (red)battery terminal, then remove the positive (red)battery cable (Figure 38).5. Remove the hold down plate, J-bolts, andlocknuts securing the battery (Figure 38) andremove the battery.Charging the BatteryWARNINGCharging the battery produces gasses thatcan explode.Never smoke near the battery and keep sparksand flames away from battery.Important: Always keep the battery fully charged(1.265 specific gravity). This is especiallyimportant to prevent battery damage when thetemperature is below 0°C (32°F).1. Remove the battery from the machine; refer toRemoving the Battery (page 29).2.
