CAUTIONUse the maximum ground speed only when drivingfrom one area to another.Maximum speed is not recommended when usinga mounted or towed attachment.Important: Do not operate in reverse with theattachment in the down (operating) position or theattachment could be severely damaged.Ignition SwitchThe ignition switch (Figure 9), used to start and stop theengine, has three positions: Off, Run, and Start. Rotate thekey clockwise to the Start position to engage the startermotor. Release the key when the engine starts. The key willmove automatically to the On position. To shut the engineoff, rotate the key counterclockwise to the Off position.Figure 91. Ignition key 3. Choke control2. Throttle controlChoke ControlTo start a cold engine, close carburetor choke by movingchoke control (Figure 9) up to the Closed position. Afterengine starts, regulate choke to keep engine running smoothly. As soon as possible, open the choke by moving it down to theOpen position. A warm engine requires little or no choking.Throttle ControlThe throttle control lever (Figure 9) connects to and operatesthe throttle linkage to the carburetor. The control has 2positions: Slow and Fast. The engine speed can be variedbetween the 2 settings.Note: The engine cannot be stopped by the throttle control.Lift LeverTo raise the attachment, pull the lift lever (Figure 10) back; tolower the attachment, push the lever forward. For the floatposition, move the lever into the detent position. When thedesired position is attained, release the lever and it will returnto neutral.Figure 101. Lift lever 4. Hour meterNote: The machine has a double-acting lift cylinder.Down pressure can be applied to the attachment for certainoperating conditions.Parking BrakeTo engage the parking brake (Figure 10), pull back on theparking brake lever. To disengage it, push the lever forward.Note: The traction pedal may have to be rotated slowlyforward and backward to release the parking brake.Hour MeterThe hour meter (Figure 10) indicates the total hours ofmachine operation. The hour meter starts to functionwhenever the key switch is rotated to the On position.Seat Adjustment LeverMove the lever on the left side of the seat (Figure 11) forward, slide the seat to the desired position, and release the leverto lock the seat into position.16
