7Maintenance• Only qualified and authorized personnel shall bepermitted to maintain, repair, adjust, or inspect thevehicle.• Before servicing or making adjustments to the machine,stop the engine, set the parking brake, and remove thekey from the ignition to prevent someone fromaccidentally starting the engine.• To make sure that the entire machine is in goodcondition, keep all nuts, bolts, and screws properlytightened.• To reduce the potential for fire, keep the engine areafree of excessive grease, grass, leaves, andaccumulation of dirt.• Never use an open flame to check the level or leakageof fuel or battery electrolyte.• If the engine must be running to perform a maintenanceadjustment, keep your hands, feet, clothing, and anyparts of your body away from the engine and anymoving parts. Keep everyone away.• Do not use open pans of fuel or flammable cleaningfluids for cleaning parts.• Do not adjust the ground speed governor. To ensuresafety and accuracy, have an Authorized ToroDistributor check the ground speed.• If major repairs are ever needed or assistance isrequired, contact an Authorized Toro Distributor.• To be sure of optimum performance and safety, alwayspurchase genuine Toro replacement parts andaccessories. Replacement parts and accessories made byother manufacturers could be dangerous. Altering thisvehicle in any manner that may affect vehicle operation,performance, durability, or its use, may result in injuryor death.
