79Customizing your camcorderYou can select and adjust the focal point toaim it at a subject not located at the centerof the screen.1 Touch the subject on the screen.9 appears.2 Touch [END].To adjust the focus automatically, touch[AUTO] t [ END ] in step 1.• If you set [SPOT FOCUS], [FOCUS] isautomatically set to [MANUAL].• The setting returns to [AUTO] when you set thePOWER switch to OFF (CHG) for more than 12hours.This is useful to shoot small subjects, suchas flowers or insects. You can blur outbackgrounds and the subject stands outclearer.When you set [TELE MACRO] to [ON]( ), the zoom (p. 35) moves to the top ofthe T (telephoto) side automatically andallows recording subjects at a closedistance, down to about 37 cm (14 5/8 in.).To cancel, touch [OFF], or zoom to wide-angle (W side).• When recording a distant subject, focusing maybe difficult and can take some time.• Adjust the focus manually ([FOCUS], p. 78)when it is hard to focus automatically.You can fix the brightness of a picturemanually.
