If it does, a short may occur and this unit maybe damaged.The battery pack and this unit can become warm during orˎˎ immediately after recharging.MaintenanceIf this unit gets dirty, wipe it using a soft dry cloth.ˎˎ If this unit gets very dirty, wipe it using a cloth with a littleˎˎ neutral solvent added, and then wipe it dry.Do not use thinners, benzine, alcohol, etc., as they will damageˎˎ the surface of this unit.When you use a chemical cleaning cloth, refer to its instructionˎˎ manual.Using a volatile solvent such as an insecticide or keeping this unitˎˎ in contact with a rubber or vinyl product for a long time maycause deterioration or damage to this unit.To Charge the Battery PackMake sure to attach the battery pack to the charger beforeconnecting a micro USB cable.1 Attach the battery pack to the charger.Slide the top cover of the charger to open.Keeping the battery mark in the same direction as thecharger mark , insert the battery pack into the charger until itclicks into place.Slide the top cover of the charger in the reverse direction toclose. (See illustration )2 Connect a micro USB cable (supplied) to this unit,and then to the USB charging device (PC, USB ACcharger). (See illustration )The CHARGE lamp (orange) lights up and charging begins.When the CHARGE lamp goes out, charging is completed.To remove the battery packDisconnect the micro USB cable from this unit, and then slide thetop cover of the charger to open.Lightly push the battery pack in the direction of its mark , lift theend of the battery pack to release it from the charger’s clamp, thenslide the battery pack from the charger.Slide the top cover of the charger in the reverse direction to close.TipThe travel DC charger (BC-DCX) also can be used as a protectedcase when carrying the battery.Charging timeBattery pack NP-BX1Full charging time(Approx.)155 min (Using AC-UD10, AC-UD11)230 min (Using PC, AC-UB10)For more about the battery life, see the instruction manual ofˎˎ your camera.The charging time may differ depending on the condition of theˎˎ battery pack or the ambient temperature.The times shown are for charging an empty battery pack, whichˎˎ has been run down with a camera, using this unit at an ambienttemperature of 25 °C (77 °F).Charging temperatureThe temperature range for charging is 0 °C to 40 °C (32 °F to104 °F).For maximum battery efficiency, the recommended temperaturerange when charging is 10 °C to 30 °C (50 °F to 86 °F).To use the battery pack quicklyYou can remove the battery pack from this unit and use it even ifcharging is not completed. However, the charging time affects thetime that the battery pack can be used.NotesIf the CHARGE lamp does not light up, check if the battery packˎˎ is firmly attached to this unit, and then disconnect and reconnectthe micro USB cable.When a fully charged battery pack is installed, the CHARGEˎˎ lamp lights up once and then goes out.A battery pack that has not been used for a long time may takeˎˎ longer than usual to charge.The charged battery pack gradually discharges even if you do notˎˎ use it. Neverpull the cord connected to the unit.Should any liquid or solid object fall into the unit, disconnect theˎˎ unit from the cigarette lighter socket and the equipment and havethe unit checked by qualified personnel before operating it anyfurther.InstallationDo not place the car battery adaptor in a location where it is:Subject to extreme high temperature.ˎˎ (E.g., in a car with its windows closed)Subject to direct sunlight or near a heat source.ˎˎ Subject to mechanical vibration or shock.ˎˎ Subject to excessive dust.ˎˎOperationMake sure the outlet matches the current and voltage of theˎˎ battery charger or digital camera you want connect to the carbattery adaptor.For safety, if the input current is too high, the unit willˎˎ automatically shut down.To prevent damage, be careful not to drop or otherwise cause aˎˎ mechanical shock to the unit.After using, disconnect the unit from the cigarette lighter socketˎˎ and the equipment.Disconnect the unit from the cigarette lighter socket by graspingˎˎ the unit itself. Do not pull on the cord connected to the unit.To avoid short-circuiting, do not allow the terminals of the unitˎˎ or connector to touch any metal object.Note that data stored in the digital still camera connected to thisˎˎ unit may be lost or damaged, if the engine is started or stoppedwhile this unit is inserted into the cigarette lighter socket.CleaningClean the unit with a soft, dry cloth. If the unit is very dirty, wipeˎˎ it off with a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergentsolution, and then wipe with a soft dry cloth.Do not use any type of solvent such as alcohol, thinner, orˎˎ benzine as it may damage the finish of the cabinet.If you use any chemical cleaner, observe the instructionsˎˎ provided with the product.If the cabinet of the unit is splashed with any type of solvent suchˎˎ as insecticide, or remains in contact for a long time with rubberor vinyl, the finish of the cabinet may be damaged.How to UseBe sure to charge the device with the engine of the car running.If the unit is left plugged into the cigarette lighter socket whenthe engine is not running, power may be consumed from the carbattery.NotesEnsure that the car battery adaptor is safely installed so as not toˎˎ interfere with the operation of the accelerator or gears.Never perform connection and charging while your car is inˎˎ motion.Charging the battery pack (See illustration )1 Insert the car battery adaptor into the cigarettelighter socket.The POWER indicator lights up green.2 Connect the car battery adaptor to the batterycharger using the micro USB cable supplied withthis unit.Put the connected battery charger in a safe place.Powering the digital camera (See illustration )1 Insert the car battery adaptor into the cigarettelighter socket.The POWER indicator lights up green.2 Connect the car battery adaptor to the digitalcamera, using the micro USB cable supplied withthis unit.Attach the connected digital camera to the car mount, and putit in a safe place.3 Set the digital camera to recharge.See the instruction manual of your digital camera for details.Some models do not require setting to recharge.Your digital camera may not be the one illustrated in theseˎˎ operating instructions.While not using the car battery adaptorTo avoid unnecessary car battery consumption, unplug this unitfrom the cigarette lighter socket when not in use.When you turn the car engine offUnplug this unit from the cigarette lighter socket whenever theengine of the car is not running.
