It provides four Class A or Class B conventional detec-tion zones. Each zone can support two-wire photoelectric orionization compatible smoke detectors and an unlimited numberof normally open circuit closure devices. The module alsosupports Siemens Fire Safety flame and beam detectors. Therelay base, remote lamp and audible base may also be used withthe CDC-4. The CDC-4 uses one network address on theFireFinder-XLS system. It has diagnostic LED indicators showingmodule status and the status of each zone.OPERATION Activation of any device on the circuit initiates a zone alarm andcauses any previously programmed functions to operate. Anycircuit in an alarm or trouble condition is displayed on the PMI/PMI-2/PMI-3.The CDC-4 is designed to function in a local degrade modeduring failure of the FireFinder-XLS main processor or duringthe loss of the system communication network. While in thedegrade mode, the CDC-4 can report both alarm and troubleconditions and can activate local outputs on other moduleswithin the same enclosure. The maximum zone alarm current can be set to either 175mAor 100mA and is set in pairs for zones 1/2 and 3/4. When acompatible detector is selected in the Zeus Programming Tool, the maximum zone alarm current is automatically set by theCDC-4. Detectors requiring the 100mA zone current limit (seetable on page 11) cannot be used on the same zone pair asdetectors requiring the 175mA zone current limit (see table onpages 7-11).CDC-4 zones may be configured either as alarm-causing orsupervisory-causing, if allowed by the local Authority HavingJurisdiciton.Do not use shorting devices on circuits with accessories on them. The shortingdevices will lower the zone voltage to a point where the accessories will not operate.Figure 1CDC-4 ConventionalDetector CardConventional Detector CardInstallation InstructionsModel CDC-4 |
