GENERAL3 Ensure the lantern is correctly charged before initial use.3 When fully charged, lantern must not be used for more than 20 minutesof continuous use. To do so may damage the lamp.p WARNING! The lens becomes very hot during operation.7 DO NOT cover or block the lens during use.7 DO NOT turn the lantern on when it is being re-charged.7 DO NOT shine directly into your, other persons or animals eyes.7 DO NOT stand the lantern near any surface or item that may be adverselyeffected by the heat emitted by the lens.7 DO NOT allow children to use the lantern.7 DO NOT handle or move the lantern whilst it is being charged.7 DO NOT use the lantern if you suspect that the battery or the lanterncasing is damaged.7 DO NOT handle lamp bulb with your fingers. BATTERY SAFETYDANGER! - BE AWARE, LEAD-ACID BATTERIES MAY BE DANGEROUS IFNOT HANDLED WITH CARE AND ACCORDING TO THESE INSTRUCTIONS.,3 Before exposing the battery for replacement, remove personal metallicitems such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches. A lead-acidbattery can produce a short-circuit current high enough to weld a ringto metal, which would cause severe burns.7 DO NOT smoke or allow a spark or flame in the vicinity of battery.3 Ensure the charger is switched off and disconnected from the lanternbefore attempting to open the lamp unit.3 If the battery terminals are corroded or dirty, clean them beforereplacing battery.7 DO NOT dis-assemble the battery for any reason.p WARNING! DO NOT allow metal tools to touch both battery terminalssimultaneously. Arcing or short circuit will result.7 DO NOT allow battery wires to touch each other or to make contactwith any other metallic part.7 DO NOT cross-connect wires to the battery as this will damage the unit.Ensure positive (+) (RED) is to positive and negative (-) BLACK is to negative.7 DO NOT leave battery in a discharged state, recharge battery immediately.If the lantern is not in use, recharge the battery every three months.Dispose of the old battery in accordance with local authority acid batteryregulations. DO NOT dispose of with regular refuse.3.1. CHANGING THE LANTERN BULBp WARNING! Ensure the lantern is turned off and the lens has cooled priorto changing the bulb.1. Undo the lantern hood (fig.1.H) by turning it anti-clockwise.Note that the hood and reflector form an assembly on model AK436.2. Carefully lift the reflector assembly revealing the spring clip (fig 5.1.)and the cable connector (fig. 5.2.).3. Disconnect cable (fig.5.3.).4. Remove the spring clip (fig.5.1.).5. Pull bulb (fig.5.4) outward from the reflector.6. Hold the new bulb (See Parts List for number) with a lint free cloth,(do not handle the bulb), and install by reversing the above procedure.Note that the reflector assembly on AK435 will only fit on the body in oneposition. DO NOT force, rotate until it drops into place.3. MAINTENANCE3.2. CHANGING THE BATTERYpppWARNING! Ensure you read, understand and apply safety instructionsrelating to the battery before changing.1. Undo the lantern hood (fig.1.H) by turning it anti-clockwise.Note that the hood and reflector form an assembly on model AK436.2. Carefully lift the reflector assembly revealing the four battery coverretaining screws (fig.6.1.)3. Undo the four retaining screws.4. Carefully raise the battery cover (fig.6.2.).5. Disconnect the battery terminal wires.p WARNING! Beware of causing a short circuit.6. Carefully remove the battery.7. Replace with a genuine Sealey battery and install by reversing theabove procedure.Notes: a) Take care not to pinch or cross-connect any wires.b) When replacing battery cover make sure that switch contact is onthe side of the switch cam and NOT resting on the top, beforereplacing screws.c) The reflector assembly on AK435 will only fit on the body in one position.DO NOT force, rotate until it drops into place.8. Dispose of old battery in accordance with local authority lead-acidbattery regulations.
