Clearing Paper JamsIf the fax paper jams, DO NOT pull it out.Doing so could damage your fax unit. Toproperly clear a fax paper jam, open thepaper cover by pulling the release buttontowards the front of the unit. Then,remove the jammed paper.Reload the fax paper as described in“Loading Fax Paper.”Important Receiving Facts c o n t i n u e dFax Paper StorageFax paper has chemicals in it that can, over time, cause yellowing, fading, and curling.Following these storage guidelines should keep your received faxes and your unused faxpaper serviceable as long as possible.l To extend its shelf-life, store unopenedpackages of thermal paper at or below76°F and 65% humidity. If thepackage has been opened, store itaway from direct light. Heat andhumidity darken the background ofthermal paper.l Avoid storing faxes in contact withblueprint (diazo) copies and plastic filmor binders. The chemicals in thesematerials may fade the image.l Avoid storing faxes with the imagedside together. The printed image maytransfer from one copy to the other.l Store your received faxes away fromdirect sunlight and at a temperaturebelow 105ºF. Heat and humiditydarken the background and fade theimage.l Avoid applying tape to the imaged areaon faxes. The chemicals in sometransparent tape adhesives may fadet h e i m a g eFor indefinite storage, copy yourreceived faxes using a standardoffice copy machine, and storethe copy instead of the originalfax. Documents on plain copyp a p e r a r e l e s s p r o n e t o t h edecay that sometimes affectsfaxes.
