Page 61 of 99April 10, 20075.4.3 Update Firmware"Firmware" is the program that runs in the RadioLinx Industrial Hotspot thatallows it to communicate and exchange data between devices, using the radio asa network connection. Different versions of the firmware communicate with otherradios in different ways, and provide different levels of functionality.In order for your RadioLinx Industrial Hotspot radio to communicate with otherRLX-IH devices, all radios on the network must use the same firmware version.¾ To change the firmware version of the radio:1 Connect the null-modem serial cable (supplied with the radio) from the serialport on the radio to the serial port on your computer.2 Start RadioLinx Industrial Hotspot Browser.3 Open the AP Operations menu, and then choose Update Firmware.4 Enter the password for the radio. This is the same password you use to loginto the radio from the Radio Configuration / Diagnostic Utility (page 27).5 Click the Browse button to locate the Image File (firmware version) to update.Both versions of firmware are available both on the CD that came with in thebox with the radio, and at our web site at http://www.prosoft-technology.com6 Click Update to begin copying the new firmware to the radio. Do notdisconnect the cable or turn off power to the radio during this operation.Note: ProSoft Technology recommends upgrading to Version 2 and takingadvantage of its enhancements. Refer to RLX-IH Backward Compatibility(page 74) for more information on firmware versions. |
