RAINSMART RainSmart User Manual
b) Float / Retention Gland / Reserve Level Installation (see Fig. 4): Using the retention gland provided.Drill a 19 mm hole near the hatch door or down pipe water strainer at the top of the tank in a position ofeasy access. Fit the Gland and feed the cable through the gland hole from inside the tank. Tighten thegland. It will support the weight of the Float Switch. Tie Float Switch and Motorised Ball Valve cablesto the mains power cable using the cable ties supplied, to provide strain relief on the connectors.Rainsmart gives you the flexibility of setting a tank water reserve level. A reserve level is a level youset in the tank to signify the point at which the Float Switch is at its lowest point. You can set thisreserve level at any height in the tank. This will ensure that you always have the water you require foranything other than the toilet and laundry (i.e. garden). Begin by extending the Float Switch lead outsidethe tank. Hold the lead at the top of the tank and hang until the Float head is 100 mm above the pumpsuction pipe (the pipe which links the tank to the pump). Then, still holding the Float lead at the top ofthe tank, raise the Float head by pulling up the Float lead. When you are content with the Float headheight (which may be a quarter or half way up the tank) place a mark on the Float lead at the height ofthe tank with a pen. This mark will be the point at which the Retention Gland holds the Float lead. Thisis also your determined reserve level. You can later adjust the reserve level to suit your requirements byreleasing the Retention Gland and feeding the Float lead either way.Note: Ensure you consider what reserve level you would like in the tank and that the length of cableinside the tank allows the Float Switch room to fully extend.Wire the Float Switch (as shown in the Quick Setup) into the socket at the bottom of the RainSmartTMcontroller. RainSmartTM recommends testing the Float Switch prior to installation. To do this, switchpower onto the RainSmartTM controller and move the Float Switch from a low to a high position. Whenthe Float Switch is held in the low position the control box ‘mains water’ light will illuminate.Additionally, if the Motorised Ball Valve is plugged in, this will open. When the Float Switch is held inthe up position the control box ‘rain water’ light will illuminate. Additionally, if the Motorised BallValve is plugged in, this will close. |
