10EnINTRODUCTIONOperation of the battery pack• Charge the battery pack fully before usingit for the first time.• When the surrounding temperature ishigh, the battery pack may sometimes beunusable due to activation of protectioncircuitry.• When the portable DVD player is poweredfrom the battery pack and if the player hasnot been operated for about 5 minuteswith the power switched on, the playerwill turn off automatically. (Auto powerOFF)• During battery pack operation, the displayof the portable DVD player may becomedim. This is to save power and is not amalfunction.• The battery pack becomes hot after useand the portable DVD player also becomeshot during use. This is not malfunction.• When the battery pack is not to be usedfor a long period, be sure to remove itfrom the portable DVD player. If thebattery pack is left attached, continualflow of weak current renders itoverdischarged and eventually unusableeven when you try to charge it later.• If the portable DVD player is switched onwhile the battery pack is not fully charged,the operation may sometimes beunstable. Be sure to charge the batterypack fully before use.Precautions for Battery Pack Operation (PDV-LC10)Storage• The battery pack should be stored underan surrounding temperature between 15and 25°C. Avoid storing it under extremelylow temperatures, in a place with hightemperature and high humidity or in aplace subject to soot, etc.• When the battery pack is stored for a longperiod, at least once an year it isrecommended to discharge it fully on theportable DVD player, recharge it fully andstore it again.Service life and disposal• When the charging time or availableoperation time becomes extremely short,the battery may be reaching the end of itslife. The battery pack can be used forabout 300 cycles of recharging andoperations.• To dispose of a used battery pack, wrap apiece of tape around the terminal sectionand treat it in compliance with your localregulations.To extend the service life of the batterypackThe battery pack incorporates nickel-hydrogen cells. To extend its service life, itis recommended to discharge it fully beforeevery recharging.
