USING DJ SOFTWARE57EnEnglishFor DJS:Control can be performed while viewing the center display’sBROWSE, MIX, and EFFECT screens. For details of actualoperation, consult the chapter on “Manipulator Style”operation of the MEP-7000 DJS Control Guide (PDF file onaccessory CD-ROM).USING MIDI FOR COMPUTER CONTROLMIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a standardizedprotocol used to govern data transmission between electronicmusical instruments and computers.The MEP-7000 uses the MIDI message format to output itsoperating data and status to a computer connected by USB cable.By using a DJ software program with USB MIDI support to assignthe MIDI messages output by the MEP-7000, the MEP-7000 can beused to control the DJ software.For more information regarding messages output by the MEP-7000, consult the section “MIDI MESSAGE TABLE” (P. 59). Control in “Normal Style”1 Connect to the computer.When the USB connection with the computer is properlyestablished, the BROWSE screen’s [PC] icon will change toactive display.2 Start the DJ software program.The icon will not change.3 Designate the MEP-7000 as an audio output device in the DJsoftware.In “Normal style”, designating the MEP-7000 as an audiooutput device will enable it to output tracks played from the DJsoftware. Consult your supported DJ software’s instructionmanual for details regarding how to designate the MEP-7000as an audio output device.4 Select [PC] on the BROWSE screen.When communication is established with the DJ software, thecenter display’s BROWSE screen will indicate the computercontrol status. While the BROWSE screen is displayed, thecenter display outputs MIDI messages that enable operation ofthe DJ software by using the rotary selector dial and select up() and down () buttons.5 Press LOAD A (or B) button.When the LOAD A (or LOAD B) button is pressed, controller A(or B) MIDI messages are output, allowing use of the controllerto operate the DJ software. During DJ software operation, thecontroller appears highlighted in the BROWSE screen.MEMO• While the UTILITY screen is being displayed on the centerdisplay, the center display’s buttons and rotary selector dialcannot be used to control DJ software.
