Installing the batterySlide the tray out on the back of the remote con-trol and insert the battery with the plus (+) andminus (–) poles pointing in the proper direction.• When using for the first time, pull out the filmprotruding from the tray.WARNING• Keep the battery out of the reach of children.Should the battery be swallowed, immediatelyconsult a doctor.CAUTION• Use only one CR2025 (3V) lithium battery.• Remove the battery if the remote controller isnot used for a month or longer.• Do not recharge, disassemble, heat or disposeof the battery in fire.• Do not handle the battery with metallic tools.• Do not store the battery with metallic materi-als.• In the event of battery leakage, wipe theremote control completely clean and install anew battery.• When disposing of used batteries, pleasecomply with governmental regulations or envi-ronmental public institution’s rules that applyin your country/area.• Always check carefully that you are loadingbattery with its (+) and (–) poles facing in theproper directions.• Do not leave this unit free inside the car. Whenthe car stops or turns a curve, the unit mightdrop on the floor. If the unit is rolled and putunder the brake pedal, it might prevent thedriver from braking well, causing a serioustrouble.• Do not disassemble or modify this unit. To doso may cause a fault.• The volume of the car stereo should be soadjusted that you can hear a loud soundoccurring outside your car. If any happeningsound outside your car is deafened by musicfrom the car stereo when you are driving, thiscondition can be a factor of being involved in atraffic accident.(+) poleBattery holderBefore you startUsing the remote controloperation mode switchThere are three remote control operation modeson this remote control.AVH mode operationWhen operating an AV-Receiver (e.g. AVH-P5700DVD) with this remote control, remotecontrol operation mode switch is normallyswitched to AVH.DVD mode operationWhen operating a Pioneer DVD player with thisremote control, operation mode switch is nor-mally switched to DVD. If you switch the remotecontrol operation mode switch to DVD, thejoystick and – operations are changed forDVD player.TV mode operationWhen operating a Pioneer TV tuner (e.g. GEX-P5700TV(P) or GEX-P5750TV(P)) with this remotecontrol, operation mode switch is normallyswitched to TV. If you switch the remote controloperation mode switch to TV, the joystick opera-tion is changed for TV tuner.Setting the remote control codetypeWhen the remote control operation mode switchis set to DVD, changing the remote control codetype enables you to operate the Pioneer DVDplayer with this remote control. There are threeremote codes, code type A, code type B andcode type AVH. To operate a multi-DVD playerWhen operating a multi-DVD player (e.g.XDV-P9II), select code A. To operate a DVD navigation unitWhen operating a DVD navigation unit,select code B. To operate an AV-ReceiverWhen operating an AV-Receiver (e.g. AVH-P5700DVD), select code AVH.1 Set the remote control code selectionswitch on the left side of the remote control tothe appropriate position with a pen tip or otherpointed instrument.• If you select AVH mode, there is no need totake the following procedure.• If you select A/B mode, take the followingprocedure and change the code type to theappropriate type.2 Press and on the remote control simul-taneously to change the code type.Initially, the code type is set to A. Each time youpress and simultaneously on the remotecontrol the code type switches between A andB.This device complies with part 15 of the FCCRules.
