Playback 39EnPlayback4Chapter 4PlaybackPlaying discs or ilesThis section describes the player’s mainoperations.For the types of discs and files that can beplayed, see page 10. Video, image and audiofiles recorded on discs are played with theHome Media Gallery (page 48).1. Press  STANDBY/ON to turn on thepower.Turn the TV’s power on and switch its inputbeforehand.2. Press  OPEN/CLOSE to open the disctray and load the disc.Notey Load the disc with the printed side facing up.y Several dozen seconds are required to readthe disc. Once reading is completed, the typeof disc is displayed on the player’s front paneldisplay.y When a BD with usage restrictions set by a BDrecorder is loaded, the PIN code input screenappears. In this case, input your PIN code.3. Press  PLAY to play the disc.y To pause, press  PAUSE during playback.y To stop, press  STOP during playback.Notey Some discs start playing automatically whenthe disc tray is closed.y DVD-Video discs have parental lock features.Input the password registered in the player’ssettings to unlock the parental lock. For details,see page 64. If the disc menu is displayedFor some discs, the disc menu is displayedautomatically when playback starts. Thecontents of the disc menu and the way tooperate depend on the disc. Resuming playback from where it wasstopped (resume playback function)y When  STOP is pressed duringplayback, the point at which the discstopped is stored in the memory. When PLAY is pressed after that, playbackresumes from that point.y To cancel the resume playback function,press  STOP while playback is stopped.Notey The resume playback function is canceledautomatically in the following cases:– When the disc tray is opened.– When the file list window is switched.– When the power is turned off. (For BDsand DVDs this does not cancel the resumeplayback function.)y When you want to continue playback from aposition you specify to be played next time, seeContinuing playback from a specified position(Continued Viewing Playback) on page 47.y The resume playback function cannot be usedfor some discs. Playback disc/file when selectingother functions1. Press  OPEN/CLOSE to open the disctray and load the disc.2. Press HOME MEDIA GALLERY todisplay the Home Media Gallery.3. Select disc type (BDMV/BDAV/DVDetc.).
