69Adjusting the speaker outputlevels finelyFine adjustments of the speaker output level can be made bylistening to audio output.1 Display the “Audio” setting screen. Refer to Displaying the “Audio” setting screen on page 682 Touch [Speaker Level].3 Touch [<] or [>] to select the listening positionif necessary.The following items are available:Off, Front-L, Front-R, Front, All.p The default setting is “Off”.p If you change the setting for the listening position, theoutput levels of all the speakers will change according to thesetting.4 Touch [<] or [>] to adjust the speaker outputlevel.p “–24” dB to “10” dB is displayed as the level to be correctedis increased or decreased.The following items are available:Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right, Subwooferp If the Auto EQ measurement has been done, the result of theAuto EQ measurement will be applied by touching [ApplyAuto EQ] (the results are also applied to some settingssimultaneously).Adjusting the time alignmentBy adjusting the distance from each speaker to the listeningposition, time alignment is able to correct the time required forsound to reach the listening position.1 Measure the distance between the head of thelistener and each speaker unit.2 Display the “Audio” setting screen. Refer to Displaying the “Audio” setting screen on page 683 Touch [Time Alignment].4 Touch [<] or [>] to select the listening positionif necessary.The following items are available:Off, Front-L, Front-R, Front, All.p The default setting is “Off”.p If you change the listening position setting, the distancevalue of all the speakers will change in conjunction with thesetting.5 Touch [<] or [>] to input the distance betweenthe selected speaker and the listening position.The following items are available:Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right, Subwooferp You can input the value between 0 inch and 200 inch.p The distance can be adjusted manually only when the listen-ing position setting is set to “Front-L” or “Front-R”.p If the Auto EQ measurement has been done, the result of theAuto EQ measurement will be applied by touching [ApplyAuto EQ] (the results are also applied to some settingssimultaneously). If you touch [TA On], the time alignment is turnedoff mandatorily.Using the equalizerRecalling equalizer curvesThere are multiple equalizer curves that you can easily recall atany time. The equalizer curves you can recall are as follows:S.Bass, Powerful, Natural, Vocal, Flat, Custom1 and Custom2p The default setting is “Powerful”.1 Display the “Audio” setting screen. Refer to Displaying the “Audio” setting screen on page 682 Touch [Graphic EQ].3 Touch the equalizer curve name.Customizing the equalizer curvesp If the preset equalizer curve other than “Custom1” or“Custom2” is modified, the equalizer curve settings in“Custom1” will be overwritten.p If the equalizer curve stored in “Custom1” or “Custom2” ismodified, each stored curve will be overwritten.1 Display the “Audio” setting screen. Refer to Displaying the “Audio” setting screen on page 682 Touch [Graphic EQ].3 Select a curve that you want to use as the basisof customizing.4 Touch the frequency for which you want toadjust the level.p If you touch “Custom1” or “Custom2”, recall the equalizercurve currently stored in “Custom1” or “Custom2”.p If you trail a finger across the bars of multiple equalizerbands, the equalizer curve settings will be set to the value ofthe touched point on each bar.Setting the auto-adjusted equalizerYou can set the auto-adjusted equalizer to suit the vehicle’sacoustics. To use this function, the Auto EQ measurement mustbe done in advance. Refer to Adjusting the equalizer curve automatically (Auto EQ)on page 69The default setting is “Off”.1 Display the “Audio” setting screen. Refer to Displaying the “Audio” setting screen on page 682 Touch [Auto EQ&TA] to switch “On” or “Off”.Adjusting the equalizer curveautomatically (Auto EQ)By measuring the vehicle’s acoustics, the equalizer curve can beadjusted automatically to suit the vehicle interior.WARNINGA loud tone (noise) may be emitted from the speakers whenmeasuring the vehicle’s acoustics. Never perform Auto EQmeasurement while driving.CAUTION Thoroughly check the conditions before performing AutoEQ, as the speakers may be damaged if this is performedunder the following conditions:— When the speakers are incorrectly connected. (For exam-ple, when a rear speaker is connected as a subwooferoutput.)— When a speaker is connected to a power amp deliveringoutput higher than the speaker’s maximum input powercapability. If a microphone for acoustical measurement (soldseparately) is not placed in an appropriate location, themeasurement tone may become loud and measurementmay take a long time, resulting in battery drainage. Be sureto place the microphone in the specified location.Before operating the Auto EQfunction Perform Auto EQ in as quiet a place as possible, with thevehicle engine and air conditioning switched off.
