If the guard and the spring are notoperating properly, they must be servicedbefore use.Lower guard may operate sluggishly due todamaged parts, gummy deposits, or a build-up of debris.3) Lower guard should be retracted manual-ly only for special cuts such as “plungecuts” and “compound cuts.” Raise lowerguard by retracting handle and as soonas blade enters the material, the lowerguard must be released.For all other sawing, the lower guard shouldoperate automatically.4) Always observe that the lower guard iscovering the blade before placing sawdown on bench or floor.An unprotected, coasting blade will causethe saw to walk backwards, cutting whateveris in its path. Be aware of the time it takes forthe blade to stop after switch is released.5) Do not use any abrasive wheels.6) Wear a dust mask, if the work causesdust.7) Use saw blades recommended by Manu-facture.8) Wear ear protectors when using the tool forextended periods.9) The risk of kickback increases as the bat-tery pack discharges.10) Be sure to inspect material.
