8USING THE REMOTE CONTROLLERHOW TO INSTALL BATTERIES1. Slide the cover in the direction indicated by the arrow and removeit.2. Install two AAA alkaline batteries. Make sure the batteries point inthe direction marked in the battery compartment.3. Use a thin object such as the tip of a pen to press the ACL button.HOW TO USE THE REMOTE CONTROLLERWhen using the remote controller, always point the unit’s transmitterhead directly at the air conditioner’s receiver.REMOTE CONTROLLER INSTALLATIONPOSITIONThe remote controller may be operated either from a non-fixedposition or from a wall-mounted position. To ensure that the airconditioner operates correctly, do not install the remote controller inthe following places:• In direct sunlight• Behind a curtain or other places where it is covered• More than 26 ft.(8 m) away from the air conditioner• In the path of the air conditioner’s airstream• Where it may become extremely hot or cold• Where it may be subject to electrical or magnetic noise• Where there is an obstacle between the remote controller and airconditioner (since a check signal is sent from the remote controllerevery 5 minutes)MOUNTING THE REMOTE CONTROLLERBefore mounting the remote controller, press the ON/OFF operationbutton at the mounting location to make sure that the air conditioneroperates from that location. The indoor unit should make a beepingsound to indicate that it has received the signal.To take out the remote controller, pull it forward.WHEN HOLDING THE REMOTE CONTROLLER• When using the remote controller and during air conditioneroperation, the transmitter on the remote controller should bepointed towards the receiver on the indoor unit.• Make sure that there are no objects between the remote controllerand receiver which could block the signal.• The batteries last about six months,depending on how much you use theremote controller. Replace thebatteries when the remote controller’sdisplay fails to light, or when theremote controller cannot be used tochange the air conditioner’s settings.• Use two fresh leak-proof type-AAAalkaline batteries.• In replacing batteries, follow theinstructions as mentioned in the sub-section “HOW TO INSTALLBATTERIES”.• If you do not use the remote controllermore than 1 month, take out thebatteries.• Dispose of the used batteries at thedesignated location in compliancewith the applicable local ordinances.Information for Users on Collection and Disposalof Old Equipment and used Batteries[Information on Disposal in other Countriesoutside the European Union]These symbols are only valid in the European Union.If you wish to discard these items, please contactyour local authorities or dealer and ask for the correctmethod of disposal.Note for the battery symbol (bottom two symbolexamples):This symbol might be used in combination with achemical symbol.
