4For BB-HCM527: Mounting the CameraImportant Information Regarding Camera MountingPlease read the following information before mounting the camera. Consult anauthorized dealer for mounting.For BB-HCM547: See the Mounting Guide.Caution• Make sure you attach the safety wire when mounting the camera on aceiling to prevent the camera from falling.Note• The camera is intended for indoor use only and should not be mountedoutdoors.• Use screws that are appropriate for the material of ceiling.• The included screws are for use with wooden ceilings only.• To ensure that camera images are displayed properly, mount the camera toa flat horizontal surface.• The ceiling mounting cover must be removed in order to insert or removethe SD memory card.• The camera’s MAC address and serial number are printed on the bottom ofthe camera and are needed in order for camera configuration andmaintenance. Make a note of both of them before mounting the camera.• Mounting and cabling instructions described in this document followgenerally accepted guidelines suitable for residential installations. In someareas, commercial and industrial installations are regulated by local or stateordinances. For such installations, contact your local building department orbuilding inspector for more details.• Camera images can be viewed in relatively dark areas, however, imagequality decreases when viewing dark images. We recommend usingsupplemental lighting for best results.• Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or halogen light may damage thecamera’s image sensor. Mount the camera appropriately.• When mounting the camera, make sure to wrap the AC adaptor cord (ifused) around the hooks as shown to ensure secure connections.• Do not directly touch the lens cover. Clean the lens cover with a dry and softcloth if necessary.Mounting Reference Diagram (Bottom View)Mounting the Camera1. Secure the safety wire to the camera using screw B (included) andwasher B (included).• Make sure you attach the safety wire when mounting the camera on aceiling to prevent the camera from falling.2. Secure the ceiling plate to the ceiling using screws A (included).• You will need to remove the ceiling plate later.• Make sure there is at least 110 mm (4 5/16 inches) of space, with noobstacles, from the center of the plate.• Do not drive the screws into a soft material. Drive the screws into asecure, 25 mm (1 inch) thick area of the ceiling, such as a crossbeam,otherwise the camera may fall. If there is no crossbeam, place a boardon the other side of the ceiling to make sure the camera is securelymounted.3. If you plan to run the cables above the ceiling, make a 30 mm(1 3/16 inches) hole in the ceiling, as shown. Run all necessary cables(AC adaptor, LAN, audio/video, etc.) through the hole.• Make a φ 30 mm (1 3/16 inches) hole where is 50 mm (1 15/16 inches)away from the center in the plate.4. Loosen the screws slightly, turn the ceiling plate counter-clockwise, thenremove the ceiling plate.5. Align the two round protrusions on the camera and the holes on theceiling plate, turn the screws A (included) to attach the ceiling plate firmly,and then pass the safety wire through the ceiling plate, as shown. Makesure you do not scratch the lens cover when performing this procedure.6. Connect all necessary cables (AC adaptor, LAN, audio/video, etc.).7. Secure the ceiling plate to the ceiling again (using the screws A fromstep 2), turn the ceiling plate clockwise, then tighten the screws firmly.• The camera should be mounted so that the arrow on the ceiling platefaces the front of the camera.8. Pass the safety wire through the ceiling mounting cover as shown. Attachthe ceiling mounting cover by first aligning the “ ” mark on the camera andcover, then turn the cover clockwise until the “ ” mark on the camera andthe “ ” mark on the cover are aligned as shown.• Be careful not to nip the cable etc.• When removing the ceiling mounting cover, move it in thecounterclockwise direction. Adjust both “ ” and let down the main unit.• If you did not make a hole in the ceiling for the cables, remove the tabon the ceiling mounting cover and pass the cables through the openingas shown. The tab is divided into 3 sections; use a tool to cut andremove the sections of the tab as needed depending on the number ofcables used.9. Secure the safety wire to the ceiling behind the camera using screw A(included) and washer A (included).• Secure the safety wire to the ceiling about 110 mm (4 5/16 inches) fromthe center of the ceiling plate.• Do not drive the screw into a soft material. Drive the screw into asecure, 25 mm (1 inch) thick area of the ceiling, such as a crossbeam,otherwise the camera may fall. If there is no crossbeam, place a boardon the other side of the ceiling to make sure the camera is securelymounted.When mounting the camera on a concrete or mortar ceiling1. Place the ceiling plate against the ceiling and mark the points where youare going to make holes.2. Make holes with an electric drill. Insert anchors (customer-provided) intothe holes and push them inside the holes with a hammer.• Mortar ceilings break easily when drilling. Be careful of pieces of mortarwhich may become loose and fall.3.
