25Chapter 2 Parts and their Functions1 GENLOCK IN connector (BNC)This connector is used to input a reference signalbefore the camera unit is gen-locked, or beforethe time code is externally locked.For details, refer to [Externally Locking the TimeCode] (page 64).2 TC IN connector (BNC)This connector is used to input a reference timecode when you externally lock the time code.For details, refer to [Externally Locking the TimeCode] (page 64).3 TC OUT connector (BNC)When you inter-lock the time code of the AG-HPX500P/E with that of an external device thismust be connected with the time code input (TCIN) connector of the external device.For details, refer to [Outputting the time codeexternally] (page 65).4 HOLD buttonPressing this button freezes the time dataindication on the counter. Note that time codegeneration continues. Pressing the button againreactivates the counter.This function is used to ascertain the time code orCTL count of a particular recorded scene.5 RESET buttonUse this button to reset the counter value on thetime code display to 0:00:00.When the TCG switch is positioned at [SET] andthe setting menus TC PRESET screen and UBPRESET screen are open, press this button toreset all set values to 0 and press the SET buttonto preset.6 COUNTER (counter display selector)buttonThe LCD monitor and the viewfinder show thecounter value, time code, user bit and frame ratedata.7 TCG (time code selector) switchThis switch is used to specify the stepping modefor the built-in time code generator.F-RUNSelect this position to continuouslyadvance the time code independently ofthe P2 card recording status. Use thismode to synchronise the time code withthe time of day, or to externally lock thetime code.SET Select this position to set the time codeand/or user bits.R-RUNSelect this position to advance the timecode only during recording. The timecode is continuously recorded duringnormal recording. But deleting clipsand continuing recording of clips at aframe rate of 24P or 24PA that havebeen recorded at any other frame ratemay break the sequence of time coderecording.Always use the CURSOR and SET buttons to setthe time code and user bits. The JOG dial buttoncannot be used for this purpose.8 CURSOR and SET buttonsUse these buttons to set the time code and userbits.The four triangular buttons are the CURSORbuttons, and the center rectangular one is theSET button.For guidance in setting the time code and userbits, see [Setting Time Data] (page 58).Time Code Section367 85412
