E-78ENGLISHBefore calling for servicePower supplyBatteryNormal video recordingThere’s no power. • Make sure the battery and AC adapter are connected properly.Check the connections again.P 9Power shuts off for noapparent reason.• To prevent the battery from running down needlessly and to safe-guard the tape from wear, the camera-recorder automaticallyturns off when the camera-recorder has been left in the shootingpause mode for more than 5 minutes.Check the settings in the OTHER FUNCTIONS screen, POWERSAVE.P 11,P 77Power goes off as soonas it is turned on.• The battery may have run out.If the remaining battery charge display is blinking orappears, the battery has run out.Either recharge the battery or replace the discharged battery witha fully charged one.• Condensation may have formed.When, for instance, the camera-recorder is taken from a coldplace to a heated room, condensation may from inside. If thishappens, the camera automatically turns off and the onlyoperation that you will be able to perform is to remove thecassette. Wait until the condensation has dried out.P 20P 81The battery runs downquickly.• Make sure the battery is fully charged.Keep charging until the AC adapter’s CHARGE lamp goes out.• Are you using the battery in a cold place?The battery is affected by the ambient temperature. Its operatingtime is reduced in low-temperatures.• The battery may have reached the end of its service life. Thebattery will become unchargeable. The battery has a certainservice life which varies depending on how the battery is used. Ifthe battery operates only for a short period even when it ischarged adequately, it has reached the end of its service life.P 20——The battery cannot becharged.• The battery cannot be charged if the DC cord is connected.Disconnect it.—Cannot record eventhough the cassettetape is insertedproperly.• Make sure the tab on the cassette tape for preventing accidentalerasure is not set to SAVE. You cannot record when the tab is inthis position.• The cassette tape may have reached the end. If so, replace itwith another tape.• Make sure the POWER switch is ON.• Make sure the VCR lamp is off.You cannot shoot in VCR mode.• Make sure the cassette holder is closed.You cannot operate the camera if the cassette holder is open.• Condensation may have formed. If this happens, the onlyoperation that you will be able to perform is to remove thecassette.
