2The GEM-RP4RFC and the GEM-RP4C are “smart”, interactive, menu-driven keypads designed for yourNapco control panel. A digital display isprovided with each keypad to show thestatus of your system.This booklet contains importantinformation about the operation of yoursystem with your keypad. Read itcarefully and keep it handy for futurereference. Check the Glossary for anexplanation of terms that may beunfamiliar to you.You will probably find subjectsmentioned in this booklet that do notapply to your system. Napco controlpanels have such a wide variety offeatures that few security systems, ifany, will ever need them all. Youralarm professional has chosenappropriate features for your particularneeds.Regardless of how your system hasbeen configured, rest assured that ithas been carefully designed andengineered to the highest industrystandards. To assure optimum safetyand security, familiarize yourself withthis equipment. Periodically check itscondition and state of readiness bytesting it at least once a week in boththe AC/battery and battery-only modes(ask your alarm professional how tomake these tests).I N T R O D U C T I O NTest your sounding device and backup battery1. While disarmed, press A.2. Answer NO (press F) until “3” (Bell Test) appears in thewindow.3. Press YES (E) to execute the test. The alarm will soundfor about two seconds.• If the alarm does not sound, call for service.• If the battery is low, a system trouble E02 will appear inthe display. Allow 24 hours for the battery to recharge. Ifthe trouble continues, call for service.Test your central station communicator1. While disarmed, press A.2. Answer NO (press F) until “15” (Telephone Test)appears in the window.3. Press YES (E) to send a test code to the centralstation.4. If the test is not successful, “E03” will display, indicating acommunication failure. Call for service.IMPORTANT - TEST YOUR SYSTEM WEEKLY
