We’ve seen too manyotherwise perfect components damaged in transit for lack of a propershipping carton, so please: Save that box!CHOOSING A LOCATIONChoose a location that is well ventilated (with at least several inches toboth sides and behind), and that will provide a clear line of sight, within23 feet/7 meters, between the VISO FIVE’s front panel and your primarylistening/viewing position—this will ensure reliable infrared remote controlcommunications. The VISO FIVE generates a modest amount of heat, butnothing that should trouble adjacent components.It is especially important that sufficient ventilation be provided. If you arecontemplating on locating the VISO FIVE within a cabinet or other furniture,consult your NAD audio/video specialist for advice on providing adequateairflow.QUICK STARTIn case you simply cannot wait to experience the performance of yournew NAD VISO FIVE, we provide the following “Quick Start” instructions toget you underway. Before the steps below, connect your VISO FIVE to aTV/monitor.Please make all the connections to your VISO FIVE with the unit unplugged.It is also advisable to power-down or unplug all associated componentswhile making or breaking any signal or AC power connections.PLAY A CD OR DVD MOVIE• Connect the VISO FIVE’s composite Video or S-Video “MONITOR OUT”jack to your TV/monitor’s corresponding input.• Connect your speakers to the VISO FIVE’s FRONT R, FRONT L, SURROUNDR, SURROUND L and CENTER terminals. Make sure to connect redto red (“+”) and black to black (“-”) with care to avoid stray wires orstrands crossing between terminals. If your system includes a poweredsubwoofer, connect the VISO FIVE’s “SUBWOOFER PRE-OUT” jack to itsline input.• Connect the AC cord to the AC inlet and then plug into an AC outlet;the LED indicator around the POWER button will be illuminated amberindicating the VISO FIVE is in standby mode ready to accept commandsfrom either the front panel power switch or the HTR 7 remote.• Press “DVD” at the HTR 7 remote’s Device Selector section and then“OPEN/CLOSE” button.• Insert the media and press [ PLAY] button to start playback.
