1 7.1 CHANNEL INPUTt Connect to the corresponding analog audio output of amultichannel source component such as a DVD-Audio ormultichannel-SACD player or external multichannel decoder (disccopy protected formats only allow analog signal transfer). Typically, these sources will produce 5.1-channel output, in which case theSurround Back jacks are left unconnected. The signal present atthese jacks can be heard by selecting Source 7 (7.1 CHANNEL INPUTis defaulted to this Source).t There is no bass-management or other processing (other thanmaster-volume control) available to this 7.1 channel input.t While the multichannel audio output of a DVD/BD player can beconnected to these jacks, using the T 187’s own Dolby Digital andDTS decoding and digital-analog converters via a digital connectionwill usually produce superior results.2 AUDIO PRE-OUTThe AUDIO PRE- OUT makes it possible to use the T 187 as a pre-amplifier to external power amplifiers for some or all channels.t Connect FRONT L, FRONT R, CENTER, SURR R, SURR L, SURR-BL andSURR-BR to the respective channel input of a power amplifier oramplifiers driving the corresponding applicable speakers.t Connect the SUBW1 (and/or SUBW2) output to powered (“active”)subwoofers or to power amplifier channels driving a passive system.t Unlike the full range channels, there is no power amplifier built-intothe T 187 for a subwoofer.3 FM ANTENNA TERMINALt The supplied wire “dipole” FM antenna will connect to the FMconnector using the supplied “balun” adapter. It will usually workbest when mounted on a vertical surface such as a wall, with armsfully outstretched forming a horizontal “T” perpendicular to theorigin point of the signal.AM ANTENNA TERMINALThe AM loop antenna supplied with the T 187 (or a suitablereplacement) is required for AM reception.t Connect the supplied AM loop antenna to these terminals. If anexternal AM antenna is used, make connections to the AM and GNDterminals in accordance with the instructions supplied with theantenna.t Testing different positions for the antenna may improve reception;vertical orientation will usually produce the best results. Antennaproximity to large metal objects (appliances, radiators) may impairreception, as will as attempts to lengthen the wire to the loop.t Refer also to the item about ASSEMBLING THE LOOP ANTENNA atthe LISTENING TO AM/FM RADIO section of the OPERATION page.IDENTIFICATION OF CONTROLSREAR PANEL© NAD T 187AUDIO 6 AUDIO 5Y PB PRY PB PRY PB PRY PB PROUT AUDIO 4 IN OUT AUDIO 3 IN AUDIO 2 AUDIO 1 ZONE 2RAUDIOLS-VIDEOIN3 2VIDEOMONITOROUT VIDEOAUDIO 6 AUDIO 5Y PB PRY PB PRY PB PRY PB PROUT AUDIO 4 IN OUT AUDIO 3 IN AUDIO 2 AUDIO 1 ZONE 2RAUDIOLS-VIDEOIN3 2VIDEOMONITOROUT VIDEOZONE 4 ZONE 3 ZONE 2SUBW SUBW 2SUBW 1 CENTERSURR-BSURRFRONTR LAUDIOPRE-OUTCENTERSURR-BSURRFRONTAUDIO 6 AUDIO 5Y PB PRY3 2 1 PB PRY PB PRY PB PROUT AUDIO 4 INZONE 4 ZONE 3 ZONE 2OUT AUDIO 3 IN AUDIO 2 AUDIO 1 ZONE 2HDMI IN 6 HDMI IN 5XMDAB230V VERSION ONLYANTENNAFM GND AMHDMI IN 4HDMI IN 33 2COAXIAL OPTICAL1 3 2 1HDMI IN 2 HDMI IN 1 HDMI OUT 2 HDMI OUT 1SWITCHEDPOWER+12V TRIGGEROUT 1 OUT 2INOUT 3OUT 2OUT 1IN OUT 3RS-232ONAC OUTLET 120V ~ 60Hz120W 1A MAXSWITCHEDAC OUTLET 230V ~ 50Hz 120W 0.5A MAXOUTETHERNETMPDOCKDATA PORTOUTR7.1 CH INPUTLRAUDIOLS-VIDEOIN3 21VIDEOMONITOROUTVIDEOHDMIDIGITALAUDIO230V VERSION ONLY1 2 3 4 5 614 177 8 9111510 12 1316ATTENTION!Please make sure that the T 187 is powered off or unplugged from the mains power source before making any connections.
