(Revised 2013-06-21) 48FiltersNote that these filters operate whether IGMP Snooping is enabled or not. These are egress filters.‘General Broadcast’ frames have a Destination Address of all ones (FF FF FF FF FF FF). The default is thatall ports receive General Broadcast. You can select which ports are to receive General Broadcast, but only ifvlan is not enabled. At least twelve ( 16 on 524/526) ‘static filters’ are provided. You can use any, all, or none. For each employed, youwill enter an address and the ports that will receive frames with the destination address for that static filter. On the 508FX2-A only, filters are provided and enabled in defaults to keep ring control frames only on the ring ports.Command Description Commentinfo Get info onFiltersbfilter ConfigureBroadcast FilterPortsSelect Portssfilter Configure StaticMulticast FilterSelect Addresses andPorts for eachen_nring, ordis_nringN-Ring filter 508FX2-A ONLY.Ports 7 and 8 are ringports.en_ring600, ordis_ring600600 series ringfilter508FX2-A ONLY.Ports 7 and 8 are ringports. After entering ‘bfilter’, you will be asked to“Enter ports that are to receive General Broadcast frames:”After entering ‘sfilter’, you will be asked to enter the“static multicast filter number (1 ->16)” ( for 524/526)or “static multicast filter number (1 ->12)” ( for other 500 series products)and then to“Enter 12 digit Address (Ex. '01005e0a0a0a'), or all zeroes to disable the group”.Lastly, you will be asked to“Enter ports that are to receive on this multicast address”.Note that the main intent is relative to Multicast Addresses, but other frame Destination Addresses cantechnically be used. The N-Ring and 600 Series Ring filters are on the 508FX2-A only, and are either enabled or disabled. Thecommand choice presented is the opposite of the current state. Each static filter group can have any or all switch ports in the group. Entering all (12) zeroes as the groupmulticast address disables that group, but allows the other groups to function. Multicast Group Addressesmust be in the range of 01 00 5e 00 00 00 through 01 00 5e 7F FF FF. These low order 23 bits of theMulticast Group Address are the IP host address. Elsewhere, this same IP Multicast Group Address Range issometimes expressed as 224.0.0.0 through 239.255.255.255 (dotted quad), but cannot be directly entered intothe switch in that notation.
