Section 4 MaintenancePart Number 80-1620-3 4-1Section 4MaintenanceGeneralYou are responsible for maintaining the ice machine inaccordance with the instructions in this manual.Maintenance procedures are not covered by thewarranty. We recommend that you perform the followingmaintenance procedures a minimum of once every sixmonths to ensure reliable, trouble-free operation andmaximum ice production.Ice Machine InspectionCheck all water fittings and lines for leaks. Also, makesure the refrigeration tubing is not rubbing or vibratingagainst other tubing, panels, etc.Do not put anything (boxes, etc.) on the sides or back ofthe ice machine. There must be adequate airflowthrough and around the ice machine to maximize iceproduction and ensure long component life.Exterior CleaningClean the area around the ice machine as often asnecessary to maintain cleanliness and efficientoperation. Use cleaners designed for use with stainlesssteel products.Sponge any dust and dirt off the outside of the icemachine with mild soap and water. Wipe dry with aclean, soft cloth.Heavy stains should be removed with stainless steelwool. Never use plain steel wool or abrasive pads. Theywill scratch the panels.Cleaning the CondenserGENERALA dirty condenser restricts airflow, resulting inexcessively high operating temperatures. This reducesice production and shortens component life. Clean thecondenser at least every six months. Follow the stepsbelow.1. The washable aluminum filter on self-contained icemachines is designed to catch dust dirt lint andgrease. Clean the filter with a mild soap and water.2. Clean the outside of the condenser with a soft brushor a vacuum with a brush attachment. Be careful notto bend the condenser fins.3. Shine a flashlight through the condenser to checkfor dirt between the fins. If dirt remains:A. Blow compressed air through the condenser finsfrom the inside. Be careful not to bend the fanblades.B. Use a commercial condenser coil cleaner.Follow the directions and cautions supplied withthe cleaner.Continued on Next Page...!
