Section 4 MaintenancePart No. 80-1640-3 4-5SANITIZING PROCEDUREUse sanitizer to remove algae or slime. Do not use it toremove lime scale or other mineral deposits.Step 1 Set the toggle switch to the OFF position afterice falls from the evaporator at the end of a Harvestcycle. Or, set the switch to the OFF position and allowthe ice to melt off the evaporator.Step 2 Remove the water curtain, water distributiontube, and the components you want to clean or sanitize.Disassemble the water distribution tube. See thefollowing pages for removal/disassembly procedures forthese parts.Step 3 Mix a solution of water and sanitizer.Step 4 Use the sanitizing solution and a sponge orcloth to sanitize (wipe) all parts and interior surfaces ofthe ice machine. Sanitize the following areas:A. Side wallsB. Base (area above water trough)C. Evaporator plastic partsD. Water Distribution tube exterior and interiorsurfaces. Remove water distribution tube O-rings then sanitize o-rings and distribution tubeE. Water pump discharge tubingF. Exterior plastic of water pumpG. Ice thickness probe and water level probeH. Bin or dispenserStep 5 Rinse all sanitized areas with clear water.Step 6 Install the removed parts, restore power andplace toggle switch in the clean position. The water willflow through the water dump valve and down the drain.The Clean light will turn on to indicate the ice machine isin the Cleaning mode.Step 7 Wait about two minutes or until water starts toflow over the evaporator.Step 8 Add the proper amount of Manitowoc IceMachine sanitizer to the water trough.Step 9 The ice machine will automatically time out aten minute sanitizing cycle, followed by six rinse cycles,and stop. The Clean light will turn off to indicate theCleaning cycle is completed. This entire cycle lastsapproximately 30 minutes.Step 10 Move toggle switch from CLEAN to OFF, thenback to CLEAN. Repeat steps 7, 8 and 9.Step 11 When the sanitizing process stops, move thetoggle switch to ICE position.! CautionNever use anything to force ice from the evaporator.Damage may result.!
