8OPERATIONCAUTION:• Before operation, always make sure that the toolbody automatically rises to the upper limit and thebit does not protrude from the tool base when thelock lever is loosened.• Before operation, always make sure that the chipdeflector is installed properly.009860Always use both grips and firmly hold the tool by bothgrips during operations.Set the tool base on the workpiece to be cut without thebit making any contact. Then turn the tool on and waituntil the bit attains full speed. Lower the tool body andmove the tool forward over the workpiece surface, keeping the tool base flush and advancing smoothly untilthe cutting is complete. When doing edge cutting, the workpiece surface shouldbe on the left side of the bit in the feed direction.1 234 42001984NOTE:• Moving the tool forward too fast may cause a poorquality of cut, or damage to the bit or motor.Moving the tool forward too slowly may burn andmar the cut. The proper feed rate will depend onthe bit size, the kind of workpiece and depth of cut. Before beginning the cut on the actual workpiece, itis advisable to make a sample cut on a piece ofscrap lumber. This will show exactly how the cutwill look as well as enable you to checkdimensions.• When using the straight guide or the trimmer guide,be sure to install it on the right side in the feeddirection. This will help to keep it flush with the sideof the workpiece.12 34001985Straight guide12345009859The straight guide is effectively used for straight cutswhen chamfering or grooving.Install the straight guide on the guide holder with theclamping screw (B). Insert the guide holder into theholes in the tool base and tighten the clamping screw (A).To adjust the distance between the bit and the straightguide, loosen the clamping screw (B) and turn the fineadjusting screw (1.5 mm per turn). At the desireddistance, tighten the clamping screw (B) to secure thestraight guide in place.009860Wider straight guide of desired dimensions may bemade by using the convenient holes in the guide to bolton extra pieces of wood.1.
