Horizontal vise (optional accessory)When securing aluminum extrusions, use spacerblocks or pieces of scrap as shown in the figure toprevent deformation of the aluminum. Use a cuttinglubricant when cutting the aluminum extrusion to pre-vent build-up of the aluminum material on the blade.WARNING:• Never attempt to cut thick or round aluminumextrusions. Thick or round aluminum extrusionscan be difficult to secure and may work looseduring the cutting operation which may result inloss of control and serious personal injury.8. Wood facingUse of wood facing helps to assure splinter-freecuts in workpieces. Attach a wood facing to theguide fence using the holes in the guide fence.See the figure concerning the dimensions for asuggested wood facing.15mm Over 500 mm1180mm-90mm20 mm68mm 121mm 68mm121mm24 mm1. HolesCAUTION:• Use straight wood of even thickness as thewood facing.WARNING:• Use screws to attach the wood facing to theguide fence. The screws should be installedso that the screw heads are below the sur-face of the wood facing so that they will notinterfere with the positioning of the materialbeing cut. Misalignment of the material beingcut can case unexpected movement during thecutting operation which may result in a loss ofcontrol and serious personal injury.NOTICE:• When the wood facing is attached, do not turn theturn base with the handle lowered. The blade and/or the wood facing will be damaged.9. Groove cutting1► 1. Cut grooves with bladeA dado type cut can be made by proceeding asfollows:Adjust the lower limit position of the blade usingthe adjusting screw and the stopper arm to limitthe cutting depth of the blade. Refer to "Stopperarm" section described previously. After adjusting the lower limit position of theblade, cut parallel grooves across the width of theworkpiece using a slide (push) cut as shown inthe figure. Then remove the workpiece materialbetween the grooves with a chisel.WARNING:• Do not attempt to perform this type of cutby using a wider type blade or dado blade.Attempting to make a groove cut with a widerblade or dado blade could lead to unexpectedcutting results and kickback which may result inserious personal injury.• Be sure to return the stopper arm to theoriginal position when performing other thangroove cutting. Attempting to make cuts withthe stopper arm in the incorrect position couldlead to unexpected cutting results and kickbackwhich may result in serious personal injury.CAUTION:• Be sure to return the stopper arm to the originalposition when performing other than groovecutting.
