7 ENGLISHSafety warnings for battery-operated applianceBattery-operated appliance use andcare1. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure theswitch is in the off-position before connectingto battery pack, picking up or carrying theappliance. Carrying the appliance with your fingeron the switch or energizing appliance that havethe switch on invites accidents.2. Disconnect the battery pack from the appli-ance before making any adjustments, chang-ing accessories, or storing appliance. Suchpreventive safety measures reduce the risk ofstarting the appliance accidentally.3. Recharge only with the charger specified bythe manufacturer. A charger that is suitable forone type of battery pack may create a risk of firewhen used with another battery pack.4. Use appliances only with specifically desig-nated battery packs. Use of any other batterypacks may create a risk of injury and fire.5. When battery pack is not in use, keep it awayfrom other metal objects, like paper clips,coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metalobjects, that can make a connection from oneterminal to another. Shorting the battery termi-nals together may cause burns or a fire.6. Under abusive conditions, liquid may beejected from the battery; avoid contact. If con-tact accidentally occurs, flush with water. Ifliquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medicalhelp. Liquid ejected from the battery may causeirritation or burns.7. Do not use a battery pack or appliance thatis damaged or modified. Damaged or modifiedbatteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviourresulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.8. Do not expose a battery pack or applianceto fire or excessive temperature. Exposureto fire or temperature above 130 °C may causeexplosion.9. Follow all charging instructions and do notcharge the battery pack or appliance outsidethe temperature range specified in the instruc-tions. Charging improperly or at temperaturesoutside the specified range may damage thebattery and increase the risk of fire.10. Have servicing performed by a qualified repairperson using only identical replacement parts.This will ensure that the safety of the product ismaintained.11. Do not modify or attempt to repair the appli-ance or the battery pack except as indicated inthe instructions for use and care.Important safety instructions forbattery cartridge1. Before using battery cartridge, read all instruc-tions and cautionary markings on (1) batterycharger, (2) battery, and (3) product usingbattery.2. Do not disassemble or tamper with the batterycartridge. It may result in a fire, excessive heat,or explosion.3. If operating time has become excessivelyshorter, stop operating immediately. It mayresult in a risk of overheating, possible burnsand even an explosion.4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse themout with clear water and seek medical atten-tion right away. It may result in loss of youreyesight.5. Do not short the battery cartridge:(1) Do not touch the terminals with any con-ductive material.(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a con-tainer with other metal objects such asnails, coins, etc.(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to wateror rain.A battery short can cause a large currentflow, overheating, possible burns and even abreakdown.6. Do not store and use the appliance and batterycartridge in locations where the temperaturemay reach or exceed 50 °C (122 °F).7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even ifit is severely damaged or is completely wornout. The battery cartridge can explode in a fire.8. Do not nail, cut, crush, throw, drop the batterycartridge, or hit against a hard object to thebattery cartridge. Such conduct may result in afire, excessive heat, or explosion.9. Do not use a damaged battery.10. The contained lithium-ion batteries are subjectto the Dangerous Goods Legislation require-ments.For commercial transports e.g. by third parties,forwarding agents, special requirement on pack-aging and labeling must be observed.For preparation of the item being shipped, consult-ing an expert for hazardous material is required.Please also observe possibly more detailednational regulations.Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up thebattery in such a manner that it cannot movearound in the packaging.11. When disposing the battery cartridge, removeit from the appliance and dispose of it in a safeplace. Follow your local regulations relating todisposal of battery.12. Use the batteries only with the productsspecified by Makita. Installing the batteries tonon-compliant products may result in a fire, exces-sive heat, explosion, or leak of electrolyte.13. If the appliance is not used for a long periodof time, the battery must be removed from theappliance. |
