8Bit angle(when chipping, scaling or demolishing)Fig.15The bit can be secured at 24 different angles. Tochange the bit angle, rotate the change lever so that thepointer points to the symbol. Turn the bit to thedesired angle.Fig.16Rotate the change lever so that the pointer points tothe symbol. Then make sure that the bit is securelyheld in place by turning it slightly.Depth gaugeFig.17The depth gauge is convenient for drilling holes ofuniform depth.Press and hold the lock button, and insert the depthgauge into the hex hole.Fig.18Make sure the toothed side of the depth gauge facesthe marking.Adjust the depth gauge by moving it back and forthwhile pressing the lock button. After adjustment, releasethe lock button to lock the depth gauge.NOTE:• The depth gauge cannot be used at the positionwhere the depth gauge strikes against the gearhousing/motor housing.OPERATIONCAUTION:• Make sure the work material is secured and notunstable. Flown object may cause personal injury.• Do not pull the tool out forcibly even the bit getsstuck. Loss of control may cause injury.Hammer drilling operationFig.19Set the change lever to the symbol.Position the bit at the desired location for the hole, thenpull the switch trigger.Do not force the tool. Light pressure gives best results.Keep the tool in position and prevent it from slippingaway from the hole.Do not apply more pressure when the hole becomesclogged with chips or particles. Instead, run the tool atan idle, then remove the bit partially from the hole. Byrepeating this several times, the hole will be cleaned outand you can continue drilling operation.CAUTION:• There is a tremendous and sudden twisting forceexerted on the tool/bit at the time of hole break-through, when the hole becomes clogged withchips and particles, or when striking reinforcingrods embedded in the concrete. Always use theside grip (auxiliary handle) and firmly hold the toolby both side grip and switch handle duringoperations, and maintain good balance and safefooting. Failure to do so may result in the loss ofcontrol of the tool and potentially severe injury.Blow-out bulb (optional accessory)Fig.20After drilling the hole, use the blow-out bulb to clean thedust out of the hole.Chipping/Scaling/DemolitionFig.21Set the change lever to the or symbol.Hold the tool firmly with both hands. Turn the tool onand apply slight pressure on the tool so that the tooldoes not bounce around, uncontrolled. Pressing veryhard on the tool will not increase the efficiency.MAINTENANCECAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before attempting to perform inspectionor maintenance.• Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol orthe like. Discoloration, deformation or cracks mayresult.LubricationCAUTION:• This servicing should be performed by MakitaAuthorized Service Centers only.• Do not perform lubrication just after the operation, wait until the tool cools down. Otherwise skin burnmay result. This tool requires no hourly or daily lubrication becauseit has a grease-packed lubrication system. However, it isnecessary to replace grease and carbon brushesperiodically for tool's long life.Fig.22(For model HR4003C) Loosen the six screws andremove the handle.Fig.23Fig.24(For model HR4013C) Loosen the eight screws. Andremove the guard cover as shown in the figure. Andthen remove the handle.Fig.25Remove the connector by pulling it.Fig.26Loosen the screws and remove the change lever.Remove the crank cap cover. |
