15 ENGLISHLighting up the LED lampCAUTION: Do not look in the light or see thesource of light directly.The appliance is equipped with the LED lamps.See the paragraph of the battery check / LED lampbutton for operation.► Fig.18: 1. LED lampFoot leverCAUTION: Always lock the appliance inupright position when you let go of the handle.Otherwise the appliance may accidentally fall andcause injury.CAUTION: Be careful not to pinch your fingersbetween the main body and the head of the appliance.To unlock the upright position of the appliance, step onthe foot lever and pull the handle backward.The range of motion is 90 degrees from the upright position.► Fig.19: 1. Foot leverTo lock the appliance in upright position, raise up the handleforward until the foot lever locks the position with click.► Fig.20NOTE: While the appliance is in the upright position,the brushroll stops rotating.Adjusting the height of brushrollCAUTION: Always make sure that the adjust-ing lever comes into the position properly beforeoperation.The height of brushroll can be adjusted in 4 steps.Turn the adjusting lever to your desired height.When the adjusting lever points the A mark, thebrushroll is located at the lowest point above the floorand is suitable for cleaning hard floors and short-hairedcarpets. When the adjusting lever points the B mark, thebrushroll is located at the highest point above the floorand is suitable for cleaning long-haired carpets.► Fig.21: 1. Adjusting leverNOTE: The brushroll may not rotate if the height ofbrushroll is too low against the surface of the carpet.Carrying handleWhen carrying the appliance, push the appliance with thecaster wheels only, or carry it by holding the carrying handle(s).► Fig.22CAUTION: When carrying the appliance, lockthe appliance in upright position. Otherwise fallingaccident may occur.CAUTION: Do not carry the appliancewith anything other than the carrying handle.Otherwise falling accident may occur or unintentionalstarting may cause an injury.► Fig.23OPERATIONCAUTION: Do not pull out the handle polefrom the appliance during operation. Doing so losecontrol of the appliance and may result serious injury.CAUTION: Do not put your hand or leg underthe appliance during operation. Otherwise pinchingaccident may occur.Normal cleaning operation1. Hold the handle, and then unlock the upright position.2. Turn on the appliance. Clean a floor.► Fig.24Using the side brushThe side brush is convenient for cleaning the corner of a wall.If the side brush gets short, take the appliance to theMakita service center for replacement► Fig.25: 1. Side brushOperation with accessoriesCAUTION: Keep holding the handle whenusing accessories. Otherwise the appliance mayaccidentally fall and cause injury.NOTICE: When using accessories, lock theappliance in upright position. Otherwise the rota-tion of the brushroll may damage the floor.Using the aluminum pipeThe aluminum pipe is suitable for cleaning tight quar-ters, or high places.► Fig.26: 1. Aluminum pipeUsing the hoseThe hose is suitable for cleaning near your hands.► Fig.27: 1. HoseTo use the hose, pull out the aluminum pipe from thehose while pushing the lever.To install the hose, insert the hose into the aluminumpipe until it clicks.► Fig.28: 1. LeverUsing the attachments► Fig.29To install the attachment, twist and insert it securely tothe aluminum pipe or the hose. To disconnect, twist andremove it. |
