12Additional warnings for tools with contact actuationcapability1. Do not rest your finger on the trigger whenpicking up the tool, moving between operatingareas and positions or walking, as resting fingeron trigger can lead to inadvertent operation. Fortools with selective actuation, always check thetool before use to ascertain the correct mode isselected.2. This tool has either selective actuation forcontact actuation or continuous contactactuation by actuation mode selectors or is acontact actuation or continuous actuationcontact tool and has been marked with thesymbol above. Its intended uses are forproduction applications such as pallets, furniture, manufactured housing, upholstery andsheathing.3. If using this tool in selective actuation mode, always ensure it is in the correct actuationsetting.4. Do not use this tool in contact actuation forapplications such as closing boxes or cratesand fitting transportation safety systems ontrailers and lorries.5. Be careful when changing from one drivinglocation to another.Safety devices1. Make sure all safety systems are in workingorder before operation. The tool must not operateif only the trigger is pulled or if only the contact armis pressed against the wood. It must work only whenboth actions are performed. Test for possible faultyoperation with fasteners unloaded and the pusher infully pulled position.2. Securing the trigger in the ON position is verydangerous. Never attempt to fasten the trigger.3. Do not attempt to keep the contact elementdepressed with tape or wire. Death or seriousinjury may occur.4. Always check contact element as instructed inthis manual. Fasteners may be driven accidentallyif the safety mechanism is not working correctly.Service1. Perform cleaning and maintenance right afterfinishing the job. Keep the tool in tip-top condition.Lubricate moving parts to prevent rusting andminimize frictionrelated wear. Wipe off all dust fromthe parts.2. Ask Makita authorized service center forperiodical inspection of the tool.3. To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY,maintenance and repairs should be performedby Makita Authorized Service Centers, alwaysusing Makita replacement parts.4. Follow local regulations when disposing of thetool.SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.WARNING: DO NOT let comfort or familiarity withproduct (gained from repeated use) replace strictadherence to safety rules for the subject product.MISUSE or failure to follow the safety rules stated inthis instruction manual may cause serious personalinjury.PARTS DESCRIPTION (Fig. 1)INSTALLATIONSelecting compressor (Fig. 2 & 3)Select a compressor that has ample pressure and airoutput to assure cost-efficient operation. The graphshows the relation between stapling frequency, applicable pressure and compressor air output. Thus, for example, if stapling takes place at a rate ofapproximately 60 times per minute at a compression of0.68 MPa (6.8 bar), a compressor with an air output over90 L/minute is required.Pressure regulators must be used to limit air pressure tothe rated pressure of the tool where air supply pressureexceeds the tool’s rated pressure. Failure to do so mayresult in serious injury to tool operator or persons in thevicinity.Selecting air hose (Fig. 4)Use an air hose as large and as short as possible toassure continuous, efficient stapling operation. With anair pressure of 0.49 MPa (4.9 bar), an air hose with aninternal diameter of over 8.5 mm (5/16") and a length ofless than 20 m (66 ft.) is recommended when the intervalbetween each stapling is 0.5 seconds. Air supply hosesshall have a minimum working pressure rating of1.0 MPa (10 bar) or 150 percent of the maximumpressure produced in the system whichever is higher.CAUTION:• Low air output of the compressor, or a long or smallerdiameter air hose in relation to the stapling frequencymay cause a decrease in the driving capability of thetool.Lubrication (Fig. 5)To insure maximum performance, install an air set (oiler, regulator, air filter) as close as possible to the tool. Adjustthe oiler so that one drop of oil will be provided for every50 staples. When an air set is not used, oil the tool with pneumatictool oil by placing 2 (two) or 3 (three) drops into the airfitting. This should be done before and after use. Forproper lubrication, the tool must be fired a couple oftimes after pneumatic tool oil is introduced.FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONCAUTION:• Always disconnect the hose before adjusting orchecking function on the tool.Adjusting depth of staplingTo adjust the depth of stapling, loosen the bolt by usingthe hex wrench provided with the tool and then slide thedepth adjusting plate up or down. (Fig. 6)If staples cannot be driven deep enough, slide theadjusting plate in the direction of arrow as shown in thefigure. (Fig. 7) |
