8MAINTENANCETo ensure efficient operation and longer life of the aircompressor unit, a routine maintenance schedule shouldbe prepared and followed. The following routinemaintenance schedule is geared to a unit in a normalworking environment operating on a daily basis. Ifnecessary, the schedule should be modified to suit theconditions under which your compressor is used. Themodifications will depend upon the hours of operation andthe working environment. Compressor units in anextremely dirty and/or hostile environment will require agreater frequency of all maintenance checks.ROUTINE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE1. Drain water from the air tank, any moisture separatorsor air filter regulators.2. Check for any unusual noise and/or vibration.3. Manually check all safety valves to make sure they areoperating properly.WARNING: Risk of bursting.Check Safety Valve. If safety valve does not operateproperly over pressurization of the air tank may resultin rupture or explosion causing personal injury andproperty damage.4. Inspect air filter, replace if necessary.5. Inspect air lines and fittings for leaks; correct asnecessary. Each year of operation or if a problem is suspected:• Check condition of air compressor pump intake andexhaust valves.• Check condition of check valve. Replace ifdamaged or worn out.6. Keep all screws, bolts, and covers properly tightened.Check their conditions periodically.WARNING:Keep All Screws, Bolts and Covers ProperlyTightened. If screws, plates or covers become loosepersonal injury or property damage may occur.1) TROUBLE SHOOTING2) WARNING!Wrong way to transport and lift will lead machine damaged.Daily maintenance1. Before each use:A Be sure all nuts and bolts are tight.B Check for unusual noise or vibration.2. After each use:Exhaust all the air in the air storage tank. Open thedrain cock at the bottom of the air storage tank to draincondensation from tank.3. Weekly maintenance:A Check performance of safety valve.B Check the air switch the designed rated pressureis 2.8 Mpa.C Clean the air filter.4. Monthly maintenance:A Inspect air system for leaks by applying soapywater to all joints. Tighten those joints if leakage isobserved.B Check that all nuts and bolts stay tight.C Replace the air filter with a new one.D Clean surface of air compressor.5. Quarterly maintenance:A Check the cylinder and piston see to if wore.WARNING:Never use the air compressor which is operatingabnormally. If the air compressor appears to be operatingunusually, making strange noises or vibration, stop using it immediately and arrange for repairsby a Makita authorized service center.WARNING:Use only genuine Makita replacement parts.Replacement parts not manufactured by Makitamay void your warranty and can lead tomalfunction and result in injuries. Genuine Makitaparts are available from an authorized dealer.WARNING:UNIT CYCLES AUTOMATICALLY WHENPOWER IS ON. WHEN DOING MAINTENANCE,YOU MAY BE EXPOSED TO VOLTAGE SOURCES,COMPRESSED AIR OR MOVING PARTS.PERSONAL INJURIES CAN OCCUR. BEFOREPERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR,UNPLUG THE COMPRESSOR AND BLEED OFFALL AIR PRESSURE.PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTIONWill not start Fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped;Loose electrical connections;Extension cord not correct;Overheated motorCheck for cause and replace or reset; Checkwiring connections Max.15m/50ft., min.14ga; Use reset button/wait for automaticresetLow pressure Air leak in safety valveRestricted air filterDefective check valveCheck valve manually: pull up ward on rings. If condition persists, replace valve; Clean orreplace air filter; Replace check valve.Safety valve releasing Defective pressure switch or improperadjustmentCheck for proper adjustment and if problempersists, replace pressure switch
