Sharing OverviewYour px2-300d Network Storage is set up for storing, retrieving, and accessing files among users, clientcomputers, and applications.File sharing is accomplished by:● Creating Shares● Creating users and groups and setting access permissions● Setting up media services● Configuring Active FoldersThis section on Sharing Files also provides information on advanced file sharing options, including networkprotocols and customizing the device home page.Interfaces for SharingYour px2-300d has three separate interfaces for file sharing:● px2-300d Device Management ConsoleYou manage the creation of Shares and set user access to Shares through the devicemanagement console (web-based management interface).● LenovoEMC Storage ManagerOptionally installed on your local computer, LenovoEMC Storage Manager discovers anyLifeLine-based network storage devices on your subnet, maps device Shares to computers, andprovides local access to your content. It provides access to Shares through your computer's filemanagement program, such as Windows Explorer or Mac Finder, allowing you to drag and dropmany files between your computer and your px2-300d device. Installing LenovoEMC StorageManager is optional.● Home PageThe Home page serves as a web-accessible interface to your px2-300d device. The Home pagecontent is configured using the device management console. The Home page displays anyShares that have been made accessible to everyone (public Shares). It can also display securedShares accessible only to users who log in to the px2-300d device from the Home page. You canaccess the Home page of your px2-300d device by entering the device name or IP addressdirectly in your browser.
