Storage drive in the flex bay storage enclosureAttention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding Chapter 1“Read this first: Important safety information” on page 1.You can install a 3.5-inch hard disk drive, a 2.5-inch hard disk drive, or a 2.5-inch solid-state drive intothe flex bay storage enclosure.To install or replace a storage drive in the flex bay storage enclosure, refer to the following:• “3.5-inch storage drive” on page 105• “2.5-inch storage drive” on page 1063.5-inch storage driveTo install or replace a 3.5-inch storage drive, do the following:1. Prepare your computer. See “Preparing your computer and removing the computer cover” on page 99.2. If the flex bay storage enclosure is installed in the computer, disconnect the signal cable and the powercable from the 3.5-inch storage drive first. Then, remove the flex bay storage enclosure from the front ofthe computer. See “Device in the optical-drive bay” on page 102.3. If you are replacing a 3.5-inch storage drive, remove the four screws that secure the drive. Then take theold drive out of the flex bay storage enclosure.Note: When installing or removing the storage drive, do not touch the circuit board on the storage driveand make sure that the circuit board faces downward.Figure19.
